Christmas Sophie 2008 and Sheik Raffik from Alkemy

I love both these figs Meg, but I really love Sophie! Poor Raffik is getting pushed out of the spotlight despite his beautiful paintjob.

Can I ask what you used to do the skin on Sophie?

The colors I use for most of my human skin tones are GW tanned flesh with GW elf flesh and then add some linen white or pure white for highlights.

Thanks Meg! I've gone through many combinations trying to get a good flesh, and sometimes simple is best. I'm going to give this a shot

I have too, the more complex will give you very interesting colors but for an easy, quick, reliable combo this one works. If you want to change the tone of the skin a little bit add some different colors to it. For an olive tone add a little bit of Catachan Green. If you want to add some deeper shadows or tones add a little midnight blue or liche purple. Just the tiniest amount will alter the color though.

Both are great. I like the second one better. It's hard to comment because they are both so good.

 

Is that cat smoking a hookah? That is my new favorite mini. The metals are fine and they look like metal, which is what they should look like.

The cat is smoking a hookah that has a blade on the top of it. I wasn't worried about the metals on Raffik, but on Sophie.

Sophie is amazing. It's impressive how quickly you can paint! Creamy skin and beautiful hair, as always. On the Sheik, I really like the use of off whites and how everything remains distinct even though they are close in color. A really wonderful piece!

If you paint every day all day long you figure out how to make your painting go a bit faster. There are areas that slow me down a bit but for the most part I try to get at least one mini finished per working day.
