Sanael
Well, it's a bit late, thanks to the weather making it difficult to put down a sealer coat, plus Snowmageddon's descent onto Pittsburgh shutting down the Post Office for a while. But, now it's all said and done, I'm happy to say I've finally painted my first few CAV pieces! This exchange gave me that opportunity, so I was able to unleash one of the various ideas for CAV paintjobs in my brain. Since I don't play, I don't know how unorthodox some of these ideas are, but I certainly had fun with this one. I've dubbed these two Kikyu "The Parrothead Patrol" for their tropical scheme. Those of you who like Jimmy Buffet will appreciate the nod to his lyrics, lost in the desert sand...those of you who like tequila will appreciate the agave plant. Hopefully, even if Warlordgarou likes neither of those things, these will be useful additions to his forces. If nothing else, they're visible enough to draw fire away from other units! I really enjoyed painting these, and I learned a good bit about darklining and large, flat surfaces. I still have a few more CAV concepts in my head, so I'll likely paint more eventually.
warlordgarou
I just want to say that those pics do not do the models justice. Impressive as they are in the pics, they are even better in person. I'm not a diehard parrothead, but a few Buffet songs are on my mp3 player, and I think I will need to ensure that I get some speakers to play Margaritaville whenever I field them. Once again, thanks! These are definitely going to find a place in my army.
kristof65
Awesome - nice idea and blending work there.
Sanael
Warlordgarou-- glad you like them. I am, of course, picturing some kind of "Apocalypse Now" helicopter scene, Kikyus coming over the horizon, with the first few notes of "Ride of the Valkyries" crossfading into "Margaritaville." You'd confuse the heck out of the guy on the other side of the table with that one. I hope they serve well. Kristof- thanks. The fade was a lot of fun to work on.
joshuaslater
I am fluent in both English and Profanity, but I'm at a loss to post how great that painting is in words.

Ironhammer
Awesome job! I especially like the wing art. It's a nice touch! Is it a decal or free hand?
Sanael
Joshua- I'll take that as a compliment! Thanks. Ironhammer- They're freehand. The underside of the right wings also shows the same insignia, but my camera didn't like trying to focus on that with the base in the way. Glad you like! Sergeant_Crunch
Those are great! Did you airbrush them or is that good ol' fashioned layering?

Moderator TaleSpinner Posted February 18, 2010 Moderator Share Posted February 18, 2010 Sweet! Love the paint job, though I hear the song Margaritaville in my head every time I look at them (and I hadn't even read your comments). Nice salt shaker!
