sethohman
I see there are three time slots. Is each slot a tournament? Or do you need to register for all three (ie 3 rounds)? Does this qualify for the free special edition mini? Is Razig OK (otherwise I borrow an army). Thanks
shakhak
Another question: As Reaper keeps releasing miniature's for their upcoming factions, will they have data cards released by Origins or Gen Con? Would those data cards be valid for the tournaments for either Con?
Wedge
Another question: As Reaper keeps releasing miniature's for their upcoming factions, will they have data cards released by Origins or Gen Con? Would those data cards be valid for the tournaments for either Con? Once the official tournament booklet is published it will address this question, but essentially, only factions and datacards that are published by Reaper at the time of the tournament will be legal for said tournament. So right now, the only legal factions for tournaments are the ones in the Warlord Second Edition rulebook (ie the Core 10). For Origins this year, I am working with Tim to run the tournament off our beta version of the tournament system (the same system we used at Reaper Con). I'm hoping that by Gen-Con this year, both the Tournament Rules and Savage North will be published, and so it can be run as a Reaper sanctioned event with all 18 factions (I am unsure at what date Razig will be published, so it may or may not be included). Sinden
Unless things have recently changed, Razig will be released as a PDF at the same time the savage north is released.
Gus Landt
I see there are three time slots. Is each slot a tournament? Or do you need to register for all three (ie 3 rounds)? Does this qualify for the free special edition mini? Is Razig OK (otherwise I borrow an army). Thanks Hopefully Castlebuilder can chime in to answer that 1st question. I can answer the rest. The Origins tournament does indeed provide the limited edition 2010 tournament mini Razig will not be legal for Origins, but will be legal for GenCon Another question: As Reaper keeps releasing miniature's for their upcoming factions, will they have data cards released by Origins or Gen Con? Would those data cards be valid for the tournaments for either Con? Since the Savage North book will be on sale a few weeks before GenCon, those factions will be legal for the GenCon tourney. Only the Core 10 factions will be legal for Origins.
Castlebuilder
I zipped an e-mail to Origins about this. I'll let you know what I hear. It is supposed to be one three round tourny, not three seperate slots. Hopefully we can get it fixed so nobody gets confused by how it's listed. As for Razig, he is not "ok". The fact that he is an evil, undead pirate is just the start of his problems. Anybody who knows Razig will tell you that he is one wave short of a shipwreck, (although they woudn't dare say it within hearing distance of him!) That fella has all sorts of baggage, including the fact that his army is not legal for the Origins tournament. And we have already communitcated about a loaner army, so that's covered. sethohman
Sorry about creating a fuss over this........ But, I will probably not go to Origins. Should have more cash by GenCon, and it isn't too much farther. So, assuming I can sign up for that Reaper tournament, I think I will do my one day in Indy instead. Even though I am sure Castlebuilder will put on a top=notch tournament at Origins. Plus, I can play Razig at GenCon. And buy more stuff. Buying more stuff is important! Castlebuilder
I never got a response to my e-mail, so I called GAMA today. They were very helpful. It looks like they will get the glitches worked out so that nobody shows up late wanting to play in the tourny. For the record though, you need to be there at Noon and we will run all three rounds. I expect that Gus will post the scenarios very soon. Then the banter can really start.
shakhak
Tim, I will be at origins on the day of the tournament, but I won't be playing. I'm more than willing to help you out with anything you'll need though.
Castlebuilder
I already have a schedule set up for my crew, but I'm sure we can find somewhere for you to help out.
Castlebuilder
Origins doesn't have a method for me to check and see how many people are already registered for the Warlord Tournament. I know that a few people from my local shop plan on playing in the tourny. How many others are already signed up? I would like to know ahead of time what the numbers look like so that I know if I need to recruit tournament players at Origins. Sound off now and let the smack talk begin! shakhak
We now have a strict training policy here in Cincy. We will not be heading into the next tournament unprepared. Our players may have been crushed at the hands of others at the tournament, but we will rise again. Born from the flames of defeat we will descend upon Gen Con with a fury that can only be calmed with first place. Tim, great tournament. Everyone had a blast and all of our players haven't stopped talking about the tactics they learned and what their going to try out next. It's awesome to see so many people so excited. I'll be playing at Gen Con though, so you better make sure your Mansfield Bears are ready.
Castlebuilder
I wish that I could be there when you start telling everyone that Bobby and Jason were beat by a girl. I'll have to check with Reaper Bryan to see if Kim can break away from the booth at GenCon to give the Cincy boys another whoopin'! I agree that it was a great tourny. I enjoyed being able to float between the games and watching what was happening. That last round really threw me. I though Dave had second place all wrapped up. I'll see you at GenCon. dewen
That last scenario really did my list in. My tactics definitely involved teamwork between troops. I had to defend the throne which meant splitting up my troops because of the 450pt limit per area :( Otherwise, I think I could have had a better game.
