i'm seeing spots!!

Ok, I think i've seen this question before, but I can't seem to find it.

 

I have some of the mousling heros from the box set at ReaperCon.

 

There are 3 of them that are pewter with black spots.

 

Is this going to cause an issue later? or should I just prime and go??

IIRC it's impurities in the metal that burned. I've never had problems, I just prime and go.

Yeah, just wash and rinse the models like normal, prime, paint, and enjoy.

I seem to remember from one of Bryan's excellent tours that it's burnt talc from the casting process. The molds get a bit of talc on them so the molten metal can flow more easily creating a better casting. If there's too much talc it may burn causing that discoloration. To my knowledge this doesn't affect the model at all beyond looking different prior to getting painted.
