Bloodstone Gnomes

Recommended Posts

I have exactly three BSG models. They are: a Pulger, Sergeant Hok, and a PPP Purple Worm. I started playing with the Army Creator (mostly just to start a ' what-models-do-I-have? ' list) then I started looking at the other items in the army (that I don't have) and wondering what I could proxy. I found that I might have a 500 point army.

Blood Stone Gnomes - 501 points

Troop A

Herald of Blood (Proxy: Reaper Stone, Clay or Crystal Golem)

Book of Tactics

Troop B

Charnel Grub (Proxy: Reaper Roper)

Necklace of Worm Teeth

Troop C

Pulger

Spike, Hok Sergeant

Armor of Courage

Troop D

Great Worm (PPP version)

I bet it isn't legal some way or another. Didn't have the book by the computer to refer to. I wonder what else I should add?

The main issue with this list is that your sergeant Spike requires 4 soldiers in his troop.

Then a minor thing is that the grub being a monster cannot take equipment.

So, swap out the grub's necklace for a few more soldiers in troop C and you will indeed have a 500 point list.

Here is a list I am thikning about playing. It looks like a lot of fun as long as I dont face a shooter heavy army, as this list is not the fastest list I have ever created....

Bloodstone - 999 points

Troop 1

Herald of Blood

Scragger x 3

Pulger

Troop 2

Naklak

Lesser Bloodstone Golem

Scragger x 3

Hok x 5

Troop 3

Naklak

Lesser Bloodstone Golem

Scragger x 3

Hok x 5

Troop 4

Great Worm

Troop 5

Greater Bloodstone Golem

Extras

Luck Stone

Totem of Battle

The concept behind this list is simply force the opponents to take defensive swings against the scraggers, and then take advantage of the extra swing that spiked gives me when people are attacking my hoks.

The battle totem brings all of their MAVs up enough to think that it could work. Add in support bonuses on offense and it makes those little buggers much more formidible than at first glance.

Use the worm to go attack headliners or backside casters and such.

Use the golems to curse away... Makes my soldiers low DV not seem so low when they are cursed (and bludgeoned from the hoks too).

Try to see if I can get a successful explosion out of the Herald. Always fun to have him go out with a big bang.

Just thinking crazy but fun builds and hadn't seen anyone post in BSG for a while so here goes :

Bloodstone - 998 points

Troop 1

Herald of Blood

Troop 2

Naklak

Kulgurk the Cruel

Stone Zealot x 3

Troop 3

Naklak

Stone Zealot x 3

Troop 4

Spike, Hok Sergeant

Scragger x 2

Hok x 2

Troop 5

Spike, Hok Sergeant

Scragger x 2

Pulger x 2

Troop 6

Great Worm

Troop 7

Great Worm

Troop 8

Great Worm

Troop 9

Great Worm

Troop 10

Great Worm

---------------------------

10 troops

25 models (47 DTs)

The list, obviously, is built around the underground heat seeking rush attack missile worms. Burrow, rush across the board, pop up and gobble something. Rinse repeat.

When someone swarms a worm, try and catch them in a Blood Net spell.

With all this chaos going on, saunter up the Herald and lay waste. When the Herald finally does go down, make sure it happens in a well populated area and don't forget about his Warlord Ability.

Scraggers and Hoks are simply worm bait.

Well, the good thing is, its only 10 points so it might be worth it to see how it goes. Just dont try going after a DV 13 model with him. Focus on the 2 track lower soldiers. Kill one of them and its affectively a tough 3 roll for you.

Tough call. Consider the following: The weapon makes him effectively cost 34 points. For 4 more points, you can instead take Calcerax, a 2 DT model that is DV 11 on first track, has a better MAV, and has First Strike.

Sure.... go ahead and compare it to other options... just be that way...

I stayed inside the box and answered the question as asked.

Maybe he already has Calcerax.. or maybe he doesnt have those 4 extra points...

And instead of answering, I provided food for thought. Blame the teacher in me for that.

Also, Chalcerax is non-unique. :p

So, for whatever reason I was in the mood to try building a list for fun that was all models on large bases or bigger. I think I am gonna do it with a few different factions. Anyways, here is an interesting idea with the dementeds I think.

Troop 1

Herald of Blood

Necklace of Worm Teeth

Lesser Bloodstone Golem

Troop 2

Bata, Lancer Captain

Glaktu, Lancer Champion

Bloodstone Weapon

Beetle Rider Lancer x 3

Troop 3

Bata, Lancer Captain

Beetle Rider Lancer x 3

Troop 4

Great Worm

Troop 5

Great Worm

Troop 6

Great Worm

Equipment

Luck Stone

----------------------------------------------

6 troops -

14 models (40 DTs)

Lots of speedy borrowering heat seeking missiles combined with poisoned beetles and exploding warlords... What could be more fun? Sure, there is no magic or ranged, but hey, who am I to argue with a fun list? Obvious weakness is model count. But, there are enough tactical options that it should help against that problem a little.

I can't resist the Siren's call of these evil lil' Gnomes. I'm swinging a big trade with Noble Knight, and should have enough to grab some of these guys. I am aiming to get the Beetle Rider Captain, Champion, and maybe eight of the Beetle Riders!! That's a large chunk of points.

Any advice on building a force with this as the core? I don't even have the Savage North book yet, so please be patient with me.

Assuming I pull off the trade, I'll need enough points to go to 1100, as that's our number for some reason!!!

You need a golem or two (any of the 3 - the Herald, Lesser, or Greater), and I love the pinners. Something along the lines of:

Bloodstone - 1000 points

Troop 1

Kordtok the Gutter

Pinner x 3

Guard x 3

Tunnel Knight x 3

Scragger x 3

Troop 2

Bata, Lancer Captain

Szerda, Priestess of the Stone

Beetle Rider Lancer x 7

Troop 3

Herald of Blood

Stone Zealot x 6
