Kragmarr List

Since there are no posts for teh KRagmarr yet I thought I would start one up.

 

Here is a list I ahve been playing a little bit and doing ok with it.

 

Troop 1

King Hargrim Axehelm

Mithril Weapon

Barnabas Ironbrace

Horn of Battle

Have you tried using a Titan along with King Axehelm? Seems like a pretty sweet warlord ability, but in order to use it you've got to have a Titan on board.

 

Which faction doctrine would you look be looking at using?

yeah I have thought about it but haven't tried it yet. I typically use the faction that allows troops with elites to deploy last and were elites can get provoke.

 

This list is 2-1 so far with the loss being a very close battle with a Necropolis army.

I'd be partial to something along these lines, mainly because I'm pretty partial to SA: Runeweapon. Probably the main drawback in either this list or the one you posted is the lack of ranged attacks or ranged offensive magic. You've got little choice but to take the battle to your opponenet if they decide to play even the least bit defensive.

I don't think I would ever field guards in pairs. You have to have 3 models to take advantage of Lock shields which makes them pretty tough to kill. I know you have 4 in the army but they are in seperate troops. If you run that first list I would switch some models around to get all 4 guards in one troop. I for one am not a huge fan of the Forge Titan, but I think I need to give them a fair shake before I completely rule them out.

You make a decent point about the guards, although my initial plan was to use them as reach models, and have them fill the gaps; they are rock hard in their own right though of course, and expensive to be used solely as reach support. I've never been a huge fan of Lock Shields myself, I rarely feel like bunching my models up is worth the +1 bonus. Still it is something to think about and I'll take it on board for sure.
