Shakandara
Well, you are partly correct. My post did account for adding the stretch goal orcs to the purchase. What it didn't account for was that Kavorgh is actually part of one of the freebie stretch goals that is only available at Vampire level. Damn. However, $5 for *2* Boneflayers.... Kargir - 998 points Troop 1 Boneflayer Granak the Butcher Black Orc Marauder x 3 Tundra Stalker x 3 Black Orc Hunter x 2 Black Orc Archer x 2 Troop 2 Boneflayer Granak the Butcher Black Orc Marauder x 3 Tundra Stalker x 2 Black Orc Hunter x 2 Black Orc Archer x 2 And you can do it with just the Mummy pledge and Orc stretch goal. $90 for the full army, with 5 spare models. EDIT: I'd priced the orc stretch cost incorrectly in the previous post at $20 instead of $25; it's been corrected. ~v Edited August 3, 2012 by Shakandara
Fremen
Hmmm...although previously not on my list, Kargir may be my next army!
Baphomet69
I suspect there will be a lot more Orc armies early next year...
Vin-ceu
Hi Guys, i'm new to Warlord and still haven't played yet... I have some reaper black orcs i painted, and was thinking of making an army with them. So I'm just asking for some help about data cards: I'd like to use Kagunk from Revens in my army, so is it possible to use his Reven data card ? or do i need to use this mini as a replacement from a Kargir one ? The thing is there is no Ogre like him in kargirs... Also i would like to add these bad guys in my army : http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/orc%20warrior/latest/03489 but they're not listed in Kargir data cards, so is it allowed to create your own data cards ? I couldn't find these info on the forum, so i thought i could ask some green-skin fellows ;) Thanks for your help !!
smokingwreckage
There's no restriction on "counts as", so if you like the model, you can just say "it counts as this other model, from the correct list" and that's fine. Warlord has a lot of special abilities, and they interact. Often a particular combination of troops used with a particular ability or spell will be much more powerful than just one troop type acting alone. So, if you're playing a competitive game, be careful about inventing data-cards or swapping them between armies, because some combinations will be overpowered. For house rules in your home game, anything goes, as always.
Stubbdog
V, For official tourneys like ReaperCon and such, using datacards from multiple factions in one army list is not legal (other than with the Mercenaries limited Faction ability called "Change of Heart"). Instead, it is legal to proxy models. That is, using your example, you could use a Kargir datacard (perhaps a mountain troll datacard) but use the Kagunk model since they have the same base size. Again, for official tourneys it is not legal to create your own datacards. For home games with your friends, I guess the answer is, "as long as your friends are cool with it".... Vin-ceu
OK guys thanks for your answers ! So I'll try to use kargir cards, or do some minor changes on others to play with friends.
gaarew
Ok, based on nothing more than a big pile of Bones, the rule of cool, and a rudimentary knowledge of the game via reaper TV videos... Kargir - 997 pointsTroop 1KavorghMagic WeaponGranak the ButcherBlack Orc Marauder x 2Black Orc Hunter x 4Troop 2Hrodash the PainmasterBlack Orc Archer x 4Troop 3Torg, Tundra StalkerTundra Stalker x 2Troop 4Mountain TrollTroop 5Mountain Troll Luck Stone I have the rulebook on order, should be somewhere over the ocean about now, and barring 1 figure (Torg) enough minis to build this list, probably using the Hill Troll (02851) as the second Mountain Troll, rather than two identical big guys with head variants. 'Course, the other reason for the two Trolls is, besides being cool, they can easily be swapped out for Brugnungir for the same points. I get the impression that I should maybe get some magic in there, but I'm not a huge fan of the Knax model, so might consider using Greka (14196) as a proxy. joshuaslater
18 models to paint. Then the addiction sets in, after you play. You start to tweak your lists, and need new models, and soon, you're building lists for the next army you want to play. Did you get the Savage North book or the Warlord 2nd edition book?? misterc
Likewise new to this. Played one game so far with Reven, but it looks like Kargir is the one for me. Awaiting both books (currently in UK customs) and I have loads of suitable minis from Bones 1 (and next September, Bones 2). I am currently proxying with whatever I have to hand (LotR, Mage Knight D&D minis etc), but look forward to having the right stuff.

The ease of proxying lets you really customize, and yet, I still buy tons from Reaper for Warlord. How'd they do that?
misterc
And now the books have arrived, I'm ready to go I notice that most of the advice is geared towards 1000 pt warbands. To begin with I guess I will be aiming for something smaller, around 500pts. This means its easier to get the warband ready, and two shorter games will give more learning experiences than one longer one (that's the theory...) So, any suggestions for smaller warbands? My initial idea was Hrodash, 2 black orc hunters, black orc marauder, 1 goblin sticker, 2 goblin stingers, 2 goblin swarmers and Gnax = 243 Boneflayer, 2 gnoll raiders, gnoll reaver, Venomspite = 208 3 hyenas = 51 No real thoughts to tactics with this lot, just what I have to hand and painted (Bones with a few D&D minis) C&C welcome Edited November 13, 2013 by misterc
joshuaslater
I just ordered two copies of Savage North today. I played my Darkspawn two nights ago, but now I feel the need for snowy forces with winter coming.
