Ferox
I started these guys as a "speed paint" about... uh, two months ago, then didn't pick up a brush until last week. They turned into more of an experiment in blending than anything else, although they're intended (and will serve well) as gaming pieces. I'm quite pleased with the highlights and shading on the blue "underbelly" skin. The green... not so much. Of course, it doesn't help that I neglected to take notes and had to guess what colours I'd mixed after my impromptu vacation from painting. The spear heads and parts of the jewelry are supposed to be obsidian -- I think I did a decent job for a first hack at the material with no photo references (d'oh!), but I could easily improve. I'm pretty pleased with the spear shafts; I used the khaki triad for them, and it gave me a nice greyish driftwood look. The bases... well, I half-assed them. I guess they can kind of serve as generically swampy. I'm not too thrilled with the way the photos turned out, either. Ah well. C&C welcome.
Diamond Shark
i like the blends on them. i never write down what paints i use and always kick myself when trying to remember what i did.! have to start doing that!
Maceswinger
they look awesomely "fishy"! I love the colors. You know as I was looking over the whole Slithe models reaper has, I thought they would make an awesome new faction for Warlord.
Grimwolf
I really like these models. I think that the blue underbelly's as you mentioned is really well done. I also like the green color you used for the flesh. Very cool. I never write down my paint mixes either... it can be a pain, I would like to say that in the future I will write down my recides, but tha fact is, Im too darn lazy to do it. It takes nearly all I have just to paint, who is gonna remember to grab a pencil and paper? HA HA! Any how, really great job on these guys I like em. Kelcore
REALLY strong work, Ferox. The blends look really good, and the colors are great. Some dark lining around certain areas (the jewelry, loin cloths, pouches, and the wraps at the spear-heads) would really push these pieces over the edge. Great work. Ferox
Thanks, folks! Since a few people commented on the colour choices and back/underbelly scheme, I should give credit where it's due and point out MamaGeek's River Troll as inspiration. Obviously I picked a colder and more contrasting pair of colours, but that's where I got the idea.
scotty kahn
I really like those colors a lot. The blending form dark to light is very well done.

Moderator TaleSpinner Posted August 25, 2010 Moderator Share Posted August 25, 2010 I love the rich teal. Very nicely done, especially for a speed paint.
