Here he is, in all his badass Black Orc Reaver glory. He has taken out a regiment of knights without a scratch (the blood isn't his) and is hoisting his final victim's head in triumph.

Painted for a competition at my local Games Workshop. The ribbon coming from the helmet is the worst part imo, I could not get the highlights to look right so I ended up taking it to midtone and leaving it there. The highlights are a bit crisper in person, my photo setup (light box, with only one light) screwed me again, but it isnt as bad as it has been in the past.

Anyway, I hope you guys and gals enjoy him.

Thanks guys! As far as the skin goes, I think this is one of my better shading and highlights jobs. I owe that to Meg Maples and Rhonda Bender for pushing me 0n facebook to give it another round of highlights. I could certainly still go higher, but I pushed them beyond what I had already decided was enough thanks to them...so thanks guys! Also, thanks to Tom Nelson for his great advice...although I still wasn't able to incorporate it.

I like your paintjob a lot. I think the metals look good, but too bright for an orc. Some juices of brown or grey liner would help with contrast and grunge, I think. The parts on his gauntlet where you did rust are very well done though, they just need to be more noticeable and spread out imo. Great work on the rest, he's one of your best!

Thanks Sam...I was looking at my first mini I did in early February and it is like night and day. I think I have come quite a long way in quality in just 6 months. I just need to start pushing myself a bit more. I agree with you on the armor, it does need to be darker. The rust was over all the armor, but the blood ended up covering alot of it.

I won second place out or 22 entries yesterday in the competition in the open category. They guy that won had some of the most amazing models I have ever seen in person and thought he sucked lol. Anyways I got 20$ worth of free product out of it so not too shabby.

Thanks everyone for all the support and advice!

Thanks Jim, working on replacing all my GW paints with RMS at the moment...When I run out of one I replace it with the Reaper equivilent. I find the Reaper paints are way more suited to my painting style than the GW ones.
