I don't understand it or "get" it, but if it makes you happy in your life, thand it isn't hurting anyone, then it's all good in my eyes.

^^ What he said. Its your thing, not mine. Don't bother me with it and I won't bother you with my confusion.

The internet is full of mean people. I don't want to be such a cynic, but really, if people are bugging you about it, don't reveal it to people who will bug you. Internet anonymity can be beautiful, yes?

As cynical as I might sound for saying this... no matter what you do or who you are people will hate you for it. Some of these people may have even been specifically LOOKING for a reason to single you out. Best I can say is don't let it get to you, be a proud furry, and be a good example of a furry not what the media wants people to think furries are.

Well said!

I agree. I honestly don't know much about furry fandom except for an episode on CSI and the wikipedia info that you posted. It doesn't look like a bad thing at all.

My thought is as long as no one is hurt by it or anything, then you should be happy. Always remember that people are afraid of what they don't know.

So instead of actually taking a moment to educate themselves about what you are into, they just make fun of it or the person instead. Meanwhile if some people took as much time to research info as they did taking time to think of stupid things to say about it, they might be surprised (in a good way) lol

While I personally fit in the "don't understand the appeal" camp and also think it a bit strange, I just shrug and say to each their own. Strange is all relative. My gaming friends don't think it's strange that I spend hours playing games with little pieces of cardboard (Advanced Squad Leader and Federation Commander) but my wife just calls them "little bits of paper" or more commonly "all that crap".

It's not her thing, nor does it have to be. Be yourself, and as long as you aren't hurting anyone or breaking any laws, do your own thing.

Oakleaf - first let me say welcome to the forums, you'll find that this group is really a wonderful accepting bunch of people.

However, I am puzzled by the fact that you sign onto a miniatures related forum, and rather than post an introduction on who you are and what brought you to the hobby - your first post is a semi-confrontational post about your personal predilections. Perhaps I'm a bit more cynical than my colleagues, but this strikes me as trollish behavior.

I hope I am mistaken in this case, but you've only popped up and identified yourself as part of a certain subculture, with no inkling to your nature as a person - and this makes me question your motives - just as anyone who might sign up here and say "WHY DO PEOPLE HATE ME BECAUSE I'M GAY" or "WHY DO PEOPLE HATE ME BECAUSE I READ TWILIGHT!?!?!". Noone here really cares, except that this is how you chose to define yourself as an entity. In doing so, in a venue where noone knows you from Adam, you appear and flaunt a lifestyle choice that is considered outside the mainstream - what are your expectations, and what is your motivation for doing so? Are you fishing for sympathy, or looking to stir the pot?

Hahah! I loved this part -

"...but his liturgy also includes a few fanfics of the survival-horror novel World War Z. A few shorts even mixed the two topics."

Fantastic!! :D

You can find the original stories on Homepage of the Dead Link

The stories are as follows: World War Z: Las Vegas, World War Z: Haggis, and World War Z: Arena. I'm currently rewriting them to stand separately from World War Z. WWZ: Las Vegas was written with my wargamer's hat on and I'm kind of hoping to do for casinos what Romero did for malls.
