Ok, in a desperate need to understand NMM gold better, because thats what I'm having so much trouble with, how did you get it to look so gold yellow instead of kinda yellow brown? What did you base with, once I know that then I can shadow and highlight to match, just need to know your base.

I used GW Snakebite Leather as the base for the gold NMM.

You need to understand, though, that I paint in so many layers that the formula is just a guideline. I futz and futz and futz until it looks right to me. There are probably lots of layers that are painted on wet, so that the colors blend together and turn into a color not in the formula. White, for instance, then over top with yellow+SL, then a little plain SL, then some more white, etc. in the places where I think it needs to go.

I wish I could give you clearer instructions, but do your best, and keep practicing. If you're just starting out, then don't get frustrated. It's not easy, but it will get better with each mini you paint!

Thanks, the reason I asked is because thats what i did with my Ral Partha "Head Hunter" female. Not sure if you have seen them, she is standing over a severed head with a big curved sword, anyway the steal sord i think I'm doing well, but the NMM gold just ooks like grown, I think I need to put more yellow glazes in, I'll try what you said.
