Hells_Clown
On the advice of someone far more knowledgable that I on these things, I repost this here. This be directed at the Paint Jedi Goddess (Anne for those not keeping score at home): I was looking at your painted River Troll in the showcase (nice as always) and was wondering how you made the base? I like that swamp-like atmosphere you gave it. I also noticed that there are TWO river trolls in the Warlord line. But that has nothing to do with your paint job. Whizard Hlavaz
I'll give this a friendly bump. I'm interested in learning the same. :)
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted October 27, 2003 Reaper User Share Posted October 27, 2003 Heh, well, I can't take any credit for that, actually...it's the textured Reaper large base, the one with the little bunny peeking out of the log (though I cut the bunny out of this one...). I just tried to paint it in swampy colors so it wouldn't look verdant and green. I did putty over the slot and textured it like the other rocks, and the green grassy stuff is a flocking mixture of green static grass, dark green static grass, dark and medium green flock (the really, really fine stuff, dust-consistancy really...), and some oregano bits to simulate leafy loam and such. It's all together in a big cottage cheese container, and makes a really good natural-looking grassy-mossy effect. I heartily encourage the mixing of grasses and flocks and various other basing materials, though keep in mind that if you want the static grass mixed into such things to have an effect, the mix itself needs to be largely made up of such grass, and only small parts of flock/sand/leafy bitz etc. Hope that helps! --Anne :)
Hells_Clown
Hrrrrm hoom hom.... The base I got with my river troll is just a plain ole base, no textures or nuttin. I'm trying out a technique I saw on the Jenova Project webpage, whilst attempting to make it swampy n stuff. We shall see what happens. I've become more interested in basing lately. I wanna learn to make em look cool like my painting/basing hero (that'd be you Ms Foerster )

Textured Reaper large base? What is that, pray tell? That's the first I've heard of it? Can anyone explain? Thanks. :)
Digital M@
I would like to know as well.
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted October 28, 2003 Reaper User Share Posted October 28, 2003 The textured bases used to be randomly packaged with the Warlord minis, switched off with the plain ones. I noted that they weren't in the online store so we're checking up on that now. I'll get back to you when I have word. :) --Anne
Whizard Hlavaz
Thanks, Anne. :)
Reaper User Vaitalla Posted October 29, 2003 Reaper User Share Posted October 29, 2003 To keep y'all up on what's going on, apparently the textured bases were supposed to be "released" at some point, but weren't. There is talk of putting them up on the website for individual orders. Again, I'll let you know when I have more news. --Anne
Whizard Hlavaz
Thanks again, Anne. It would be cool to get my hands on some of those when the time comes. :)
ReaperIvy
Modification: They are going in to distribution. I don't have a release date for you yet. Maybe we can get them into the Boneyard soonish. :D Reaper Ivy
