MamaGeek
Well, the first half was a bit of a blowout, but the second half was very exciting! I was rooting for the Steelers (their head coach graduated from my alma mater), so it's too bad they lost, but congrats to the Packers! Did any of you notice that Christina Aguilera messed up the lyrics of the National Anthem? The Black Eyed Peas were underwhelming, too, in my opinion. Favorite ad, anybody? Darth Vader Volkswagon, hands down! That kid is just like my son, John, who runs ahead of us when we get to the supermarket, to "Use the Force" to open the automatic door. The body language the kid in the ad used was just like John's, too. It put a huge smile on my face!
joshuaslater
Darth Vader rocked!!! The Black Eyed Peas suffered from very poor sound via television. The game was a nail biter. Good football.
sethohman
Being from Detroit, the Eminem / Chrysler commercial was by far the best. Had the home town pride going - it was an emotional commercial. All my Facebook friends from back home felt the same. Number 2 had to have been the Ozzie / Bieber commercial. "Whats a Bieber". "I don't know, he looks kind of like a girl". Just too funny, IMO. Game was awesoem too. Just glad the correct team won it. NFC!!!
Lorderl
Great game no doubt, though my team didnt win. as for commericals, the couple having dinner really struck me as funny!
joshuaslater
The Eminem/Chrysler commercial made me proud too. I'll give him points for that, and anyone who supports our industries.
Doug Sundseth
I agree about that Chrysler commercial. It was strong, well-made, and affecting. It's just too bad it was for Government Motors. I've owned mostly GM and Chrysler cars for years; I'll not buy another GM or Chrysler product. I also thought that many of the other commercials failed pretty badly. Funny commercials only work when they're, you know, funny. And with the meteor failing to hit the stadium, it was kind of a bust all around. Oh, well, only six months to pre-season (or lockout, boo, hiss).
cutebutpsycho
I liked the Coke commercial-the one with the dragon!
Spike
I've never understood why companies spend small fortunes to create those awesome ads that only get played ONCE. I mean, there's more talk right here about the commercials than the silly game itself, and yet we'll never see most of them ever again. Are the corporations maybe thinking rarity is the key? Are they thinking to make the ads "collectible"?
MamaGeek
I think those commercials air for the FIRST TIME at the Superbowl, but continue to be aired afterwards. I certainly recall seeing ads aired repeatedly after the big game, in past years.

I don't expect to see that Coke/Dragon commercial ever again on network TV, but I would expect that it'll get a lot of play time on SyFy and G4. Length might play an issue too. Some networks simply don't play anything longer than 30 seconds during their primetime commercial breaks b/c they think people will switch channels. If that's the case, then I suppose the longer ads wouldn't get re-played as often.
kristof65
With the web, though, a lot of those commercials live on, even if they don't ever air on TV again. What every advertiser is looking for is for their commercial to generate the watercooler buzz that puts their products name on everyone's mind - if it does that, it doesn't have to ever air again - especially if people are still talking about it the following year at the next Super Bowl. Heisler
I don't really care about the ads, I'm just glad the my team won and the Lombardi trophy is heading home to Green Bay. The smallest market team in the NFL and holder of more titles than any other team in the league. Oh and I may never eat doritos again after their ad. WizardOne
I liked the Coke commercial-the one with the dragon! Oh, Yes, second that. At first, I thought it was a movie trailer or a WoWarcraft ad. The Doritos commercials were twisted, edgy, out-of-the box but not in a good way... ...I was already not a fan of Doritos before the super bowl so it just puts them on my buy-something-else list. Do the Black Eyed Peas always electrify themselves like that when they're in concert? The halftime show looked like Matrix vs. TRON at the Beijing Olympics. And, I swear I saw some Cybermen bopping around on the stage toward the end -- silver suits, blocky metallic heads? -- did anybody else catch that?? The sound was horrible but that is the norm for the venue. Concert acoustics are just dreadful in Cowboys Stadium. As for the game, I rooted for the team wearing yellow! haldir
It's called Exposure. How many people watch the SB each year & how many countries?? That is why companies pay for that commercial spot. As for me, I didn't watch, didn't care this year. My enthusiasm for football was dash on the 2nd weekend of January (damn Saints, damn Ducks  ) If anything, glad the Pack one, as I had a "Packer" team on Mafia wars & won the champ ring prize

That is why companies pay for that commercial spot. I'm pretty sure they don't show the US commercials over here, but I agree. The reason they do it is because they feel the exposure is worth the money. Number of showings is irrelevant, only the impact matters.
