Painting Orange

Howdy.

I'm in need of some advice. I typically paint in desaturated, realistic colors. But a commission client has asked me to paint a number of figures using bright orange robes. I mean like sports team orange, Auburn Tigers orange.

My natural inclination would be to shade it with brown or even blue (the complimentary color on the wheel) but that's grey.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Dave

I've done fairly well with something like blackened brown and carrot top for low end, highlight orange, then the appropriate yeller for highlight. I'm seeing a few different versions of the auburn tiger logo and some look like they are cool oranges (favor the bottom of the color wheel) and others warm (favor the top).

My personal habit is to use the warm orange & yellows (as my shadow preferences indicate).
