Fruggs
I've got wet cement plans too. I purchased my ticket and think *cross your finger* that I'm going! :)
Dodson
Well things look good for my first Reapercon, getting a late start on plans but I plan on driving up from Corpus Christi on Tuesday. I am looking forward to meeting everyone, especially Meg M. And John Bonnot whom I have had paint miniatures for me. I am still new to painting and will be trying to get in some of the lower level classes. Hopefully I can learn a lot while I am there. I'll peruse the forums on where to stay and what not. Is there for sure going to be a barbecue pit? If so I have a lot of venison sausage and such I can donate to the grill master to help feed the masses :) -John Also Martin if you read this I'm going go try and get your cell from Frank S. I imagine you will be coming to Reapercon since you are in Dallas area now.

cutebutpsycho
I've never seen a BBQ pit AT the con. I've seen BBQ brought in from local BBQ places, but never done at the facility....
fieldarchy
Uhhh well, as for a BBQ pit here, no probably not on the premises though talk to Ed about that. If all else fails though someone can bring a charcoal grill to my house and we can cook up some BBQ for everyone. Mmmmmm BBQ. Otherwise there's Metzler's down the road which is pretty good and in the opposite direction there is also Treadway's out in the middle of a field with a sno-cone place too if I'm recalling correctly. Shakandara
I have been contemplating smoking some 'que this year instead of bringing cheesecake. My title is objecting, but my stomach is not... ~v

fieldarchy
Vince if it makes it easier--I know how to make cheesecake and key lime pie. You bring the BBQ--I supply the sweet stuff.
Spike
As far as I know, none of the Georgia posse will be there this time. (though I can't speak for KevinC "Rodnik")
Shakandara
Vince if it makes it easier--I know how to make cheesecake and key lime pie. You bring the BBQ--I supply the sweet stuff. Thanks, Meg. The two biggest stumbling blocks are a) delivering quality food 5 hours away from home, and b) timing. I could easily run the smoker the night before, and pull fresh <insert choice of smoked meat here> Wednesday morning before hitting the road, but I'd have no good way to keep it warm for the ride up. So that would require chilling it, which then presents the problem of reheating it upon arrival. Also, since I'd be coming in on Wednesday, that's usually the night of meet & eat, which has been bbq in the past. I'd not want to step on that arrangement. I haven't completely discarded the idea, but the logistics are a little discouraging. It's much easier to bake, freeze, and transport a cheesecake or two. ~v
fieldarchy
hmmm well maybe we should just make it a cheesecake/pie day then. I bring keylime and maybe a peanut butter cream pie with a chocolate crust and you bring the cheesecake.

Dr.Bedlam
Hm. Would there be objection to contained barbecue cooker in parking lot?
fieldarchy
Hm. Would there be objection to contained barbecue cooker in parking lot? Possibly. That's something that would need to be cleared with the fire department, that's my guess. Liability issues and all. But again, more than willing to hold a BBQ at my house if y'all want to do it. I'm a 5 minute drive from Reaper, literally.
