Shakandara
Need any more fantastic ideas for cheesecakes Vince? Do your ideas involve bacon again? ~v
All-Terrain Monkey
What great idea wouldn't involve bacon?!?
haldir
MMMMMmmmmm, Treadway... Awesome BBQ. Don't they have sandwich named after some game warden? I may have to try them this year. Sonic is nice & great to have on site but one can only have it so much!!! I recall, Qwyk, Eastman & myself ate at Rudy's BBQ one year & I thought that was excellent food, too bad there isn't one close to Reaper. Dodson
I must have been mistaken about the BBQ but if we are allowed to have a pit in the parking lot I'd volunteer to help cook etc. Heck if Meg lets us do it at her place we could have a BBQ there before or after the con. I am happy with whatever though. If the powers that be give us the thumbs up for a pit that could be cool. People could grab stuff at krogers and we could cook it up. Didn't mean to start a tangent on the reporting in thread though lol. I'm just a rook coming for my first con so I dunno all the logistics etc.
Heisler
Ultimately the parking lot is so packed that you really couldn't do it there anyway.
Qwyksilver
Vince, get an AC adapter for your car's lighter and use a heating pad. Wrap the securely so it won't leak. Wrap the food in a heating pad (or an electric throw blanket - can you even find one in Texas?) and place all that in the cooler. The cooler will retain the heat just as well as it will the cold. I've got a sizeable backyard and living room and kitchen area. We can fit a few bodies in there. And plus you can feel free to bring some beers/ciders to the place. Just don't wreck my house and we're good
Simon the Overthinker
Smoker might be an issue but grilling should be OK. Perntinent code is as follows - **Section 308.3.1: amended to read as follows: Section 308.3.1. Open-flame Cooking Devices. Charcoal burners and other open-flame cooking devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet (3,048 mm) of combustible construction. Exceptions: 1. One- and two-family dwellings. If a grill can be had, it can be used there!

Good thought on the heating pad, Mike. I have one or two of them because of my various aches and pains; I've got a nice insulated bag that I could use to create a pack within a pack to keep food at temp... Interesting. Anyone getting hungry? ~v
Dr.Bedlam
Hm. Would there be objection to contained barbecue cooker in parking lot? Possibly. That's something that would need to be cleared with the fire department, that's my guess. Liability issues and all. But again, more than willing to hold a BBQ at my house if y'all want to do it. I'm a 5 minute drive from Reaper, literally. Hm. Only bad thing is that I am unlikely to be there before or after the con... DURING, on the other hand... wul, booger. It was a thought. Shakandara
Glad you threw that "smoked" part in there. This is a family-friendly fourm, after all. ~v

psyberwolfe1
It's a shame I don't have access to a barbeque trailer anymore. Then we could smoke meat all day.
