Hello,

I want to get back into painting and am going to start with Games Workshop Grey Knights line of figures. I'd like to do a simple form of NMM on them.

Can someone recommend a good "Core" of paints from the Reaper Master Line for starting painting in general and specifically paints I would need for the models linked above. Very interested in the "HD" paints as well.

Thank You,

Here are two threads which discuss colors for starting with. Hope they are helpful to you.

For doing silver/grey like those knights, you might try 9713, the triad with black and white, and 9730, the neutral grey triad. That gives you 4 greys plus black and white at each end of the spectrum.

For the Grey Knights, I think Inarah made some good suggestions. I've been interested in picking up some Grey Knights too and somewhere through the GW fluff, if I remember correctly, they put a slight tint of blue on the armor, if that is something you might be interested in doing maybe pick up the clear blue RMS too. Now, I wouldn't know how to actually pull that off, but it's a suggestion.

I would probably apply that hint of blue as a glaze either with the clear blue or another one. Vallejo makes a transparent blue that would work, GWs blue wash might work as well, but remember you want to only hint at the blue so almost anything would have to be thinned way down.
