dargrin
So I have gotten into a painting slump. I have been looking at the pile of lead and decided that I need to do something different. I have turned to my other creative hobby: terrain building. I have to say it has to be at least a couple or so years since I did this but I finally pulled the trigger on this. A while back I tore apart a VCR and recovered some interesting guts. I offered them to Lance but he told me to do something with him. So thanks to Lance you have this WIP. Ok enough of me yammering on. Below is what I have used for inspiration for the project. Not this will not be a duplication of it.
dargrin
So I would like to think that this would be a usable piece for Warlord or any other type table top game. The base is about 6 inches (15 cm) in diameter cut in almost like a octagon with 2 inch insulation foam. Tutorial for the field stone wall can be found in the craft section TheCraft 19. This will be the foundation of the wind mill. Drew in the stones.

dargrin
I have chosen some a verity of alternate colors for the rocks and added a mud/dirt line.
dargrin
So I bought some 3/8th inch (1cm) square dowel and cut them into 2 inch (5cm) strips.
dargrin
I then using a utility knife I cut grooves into the foam sinking them into the foam about an inch deep. Side view here.
dargrin
I then used hot glue to set them into place. (Top view here) I am now cutting the boards to form the decking. (coffee stirrers) As you can see I am having the deck go completely around the building. This is the first tab in the wheel. The blank spot is for the steps. At this point I don't know if I am going with wood steps or stone steps. Still up in the air.

dargrin
Added the deck joists to give the illusion that it is actually done correctly and not super glued on.
dargrin
Base coated the tabs with Reaper Master Series Woodstain brown.
haldir
NICE!! Love that "stone" work you've done, very realistic.
dargrin
Thanks haldir! For some reason I didn't take a picture of the wood grain pattern on the top. I am not happy with it anyway so just as well. Picture of that will come later. Here is the frame of the building. It will be a square about 4 inches (11CM) or so.
