dargrin
I now pushed pins through the holes and cut the pins flush (or as close as I could) on the other side.
dargrin
Ok I didn't take any pictures of this but this is what I did: First I cut the small square and glued with the ring would go. While the glue was drying I made the pull ring by taking brass wire and wrapping round the tip of my needle nose pliers. I cut the excess off and made the ends touch so I had a circle. I then drilled 2 holes though the square just thicker then the wire ring. I then put the circle I made on the wire and put both ends through the holes cutting them in the back. dargrin
So I nixed the above shingles because of gluing issues. Since the I am using coffee stirrers for the joists they are not even the glue points were very off and just didn't look right. I now attempting a new solution. I have glued paper to the joists to give them some thing to cling too. My hope is the shingles will now follow the nape of the joists. dargrin
Talk about a crappy picture. = P Any ways....Starting to glue the shingles on. Seems to work well. I have figured out the the first shingles along the roof should be more of a trapezoid rather then a parallelogram. The next layer of shingles lay much better if done so. This is pretty tedious work but I really like the results. Not sure what I am going to do with the peak of the roof. I will need to figure it out. Tired now. Need to do more in the morning. Dr.Bedlam
I feel your pain. I've got a Mouseling Village under construction, and shingling is TEDIOUS. That being said, this is shaping up to be a windmill I'd be PROUD to throw Dr. Frankenstein off of!
dargrin
Thanks guys. I am out of coffee stirrers or I would be working on it today. Hope to pic up some more tomorrow so I can do more trimming. dargrin
Big oops here. Even though I measured out how big I wanted the footprint to be on the stone pedestal, I made the frame at that foot print. So the mill is too big for the base. X( Looks like I will be making a new base for it now..
