Inarah
I saw this was done at GenCon, but missed the actual event. Are there any sculptors interested in a SPAM carving contest at Reapercon? All in good fun, of course. I'm willing to provide several cans of SPAM toward the event if the convention organizers can make this a go. psyberwolfe1
We have Spam-O-Rama in Austin, TX to do this.
Bel_Amore
I remember walking past the display table of various pinkish-greyish blobs of carved spam....I also remember the smell
Reaperbryan
I remember walking past the display table of various pinkish-greyish blobs of carved spam....I also remember the smell I'm going to agree with Bel on this one, and suggest of you want to host a SPAM carving, please don't do it where I have to be in the same building every day. Pole
Set up a table outside! What could be more Texan than Spam carving?
Stubbdog
Uh.... I have lived in TX all my life and have never associated spam anything with Texas....
cutebutpsycho
Minnesotan maybe....we have the spam factory right here in MN and boy aren't we proud (sarcasm). I can tell you first hand that stuff STINKS. Maybe at Gencon in a convention center full of gamer smells, it wasn't so noticeable, but I can PROMISE you it'd be stinky at REapercon. And doing it in the parking lot sure isn't going to help anything with the Texas heat. Blech
paintminion
I would nab a few cans and fry some up with the pancakes. They would never make it to carving...
JeffyBaby
Maybe an Ivory Soap bar carving event would work better in the confines of ReaperCon in TX in the summer.
Inarah
Ivory Soap is for sissies. It's not all that hot during Reapercon. I mean it might get into the 90's, but it's generally only 80ish. And last year we had a couple days in the 60* range IIRC. You want to see hot in Texas, wait until July. You can fry SPAM on the pavement. orcsoul
This year it's ramping up to be a hot summer, it's already on the average mid-upper 90s just a few hours south of the DFW region... and it's only getting warmer.
Artists Wren Posted April 30, 2011 Artists Share Posted April 30, 2011 My first ReaperCon was so hot it took me a year off to work up the courage to come back and try again! ;->
Heisler
The temperature has been rather mild the last few years. There have been at least two ReaperCons with temperatures in the 100s during the whole show.
psyberwolfe1
We're in extreme drought this year. Do not be surprised if it is hot.
