wildbill
I will maintain the rear guard until Tiron reappears with me. Then I will follow Chara around the room to help protect her back.
haldir
Chara & Shad (Elmo goes with this group) You come upon the first door. There are no sounds behind it but what catches your eye is the wood of the door is out of place in this setting. It appears to be new, along with the hinges are new & look well maintained. If you check either door, they are both locked. Isha, Tiron (Cory is with this group) You make your way to the corridor. Taking a peak down the hall you see nothing & hear nothing. Also who has light sources?
styates
Tiron doesn't have a light source, he has dark vision.
Spike
Chara has darkvision too. At one point Bod had a torch, but he dropped it aside before we all fought the ogre.
wildbill
Shad is holding his wood...uhhhhh...I mean, torch. Yeah, torch. That's what I meant. Seriously, Shad has a torch.
Inarah
So now it's Shad carrying a torch for Chara? In the dim flickering light Isha will look around very cautiously, realizing that the light and noise from the group entering has probably alerted any residents of the room, large or small. (It's mostly small poisonous ones she's worried about).
Anastrianna
As Tiron moves to cover the back, Kyana nods and says, "Good idea." She moves in cautiously making sure she is not the too close to the front or too close to the back.
Spike
"Any one of yous want to have a go with this lock?", Chara asks, than adds "Door looks new, not like the others." She steps aside to let somebody else try the locks.
styates
Tiron, hearing Chara's request, makes his way forward from the back of the group. "Let me take a look at it and see what I can do," he offers. 54 on D100 (10% chance of success)
Inarah
Isha continues to look around the room from her spot along the south wall, talking quietly to herself as she does. "This room appears abandoned, yet the locks would indicate otherwise. And we'll need to look down that hallway also, won't do to leave someone or something in the dark behind us. What use could this place be? And is it the old cult still, or some new followers building on their reputation?"
Spike
Chara shrugs at Isha's musing. "When you live in a big place like this, some rooms gonna get run-down. Some rooms gonna sure get real run-down when you got an ogre living with you. The locks is to keep the whole place from getting ogry." Chara says the word 'ogry' with the sort of tone and expression that should lead everyone around her to think she speaks from personal experience. Anastrianna
Kyana is amused at Chara's explanation and use of the word "ogry." But she smiles to herself and says nothing.
haldir
Tiron You step up to the door & using your lockpicks you fail miserably in your attempt to open the door. There is anther door (South), which is in the same shape as the North door. Isha In the dim light of the torch (it barely reaches down the corridor) you think you see movement. Cory He doesn't like the light situation, being human in all. He slings his shield over his shoulder & gets a torch of his own out. Successfully lighting it, he shines it down the corridor. What everyone not at the doors sees are carved pillars of stone down the middle (there are pillars in the middle of the big room as well). What Isha thought as movement is actually something. It appears to be human but it's clothes are disheveled & are almost rags. It's skin, what's left is very pale & grey. It's eyes are red, a very deep red that seem to glare up in the torchlight. It gives the party a blank stare as it stands at the end of the corridor.
Inarah
Isha is pondering whether an empty room is truly empty if it has been left that way on purpose, to be an unoccupied space, in contrast with rooms that are filled with objects and have occupational uses. The dim shuffling not-human at the end of the corridor comes into focus. Seeing that the room is occupied she realizes that it does have a purpose other than being a space unto itself, and that the creature it houses is a part of that. As Cory holds his torch up to view the thing she says "Some things are not better in the light."
