SIGIL
An Absolutely amzing piece of work. And just FYI there is apparently a standign order to snipe any RBG piece that goes up on CMON's gallery. I will probably never knwo who is doign it but it has started to make me angry now. I wish I coudl day that it does nto botehr me but it does. I knwo it happens to everyone at CMON but this has really begun to take on a personal affront. It is as if the snipers have decided to attack EVERY RBG figure submitted to the site, whether it is one of my personal works or someone's work on an RBG figure. just gettign it off my chest there. http://www.coolminiornot.com/index/whatm/Red%20Box%20Games/id/282337
joshuaslater
Tre, I feel your frustration at jamrolls logged in anonymously on an internet forum mouthing off like children. Now stop crying and pack my RBG order I placed yesterday!! Stat!! I'm guessing your miniature company is even more personal as you are the sculptor, but anyone venturing into the rough and tumble world of miniatures should have a good read on frothers and TMP before starting. Once you give up hope on those clowns, you'll feel better.
Anne
Excellent work, both painting and sculpting! I like the combination of coloring on the figure, and the metals are done very well also. Redbox Games has excellent sculpts, the poses and details are interesting, innovative and well thought out. I don't understand the CMON snipers, not sure what the point is of putting good and cool work down. Who knows. Personally I think that site would look alot different if in order to vote with a low score, one had to have proverbial balls and be logged in and give a reason why. It would help people improve and weed out the pointless snipers. I'm sure people will tell you to ignore them, and you should because you are producing high quality work, but if ignoring is difficult, try to let them fuel you, turning their negativity into positivity with more great work. Thanks for sharing your stuff, always a pleasure to see it!
JimL
Beautiful work, I can picture him bashing skulls with the shield. Great effects with the blood on the shield. I admire your painting and sculpting.
Mercius
Tre...some of the best painters in the world consistently praise your sculpts...and, well myself as well. Just keep your head held high and know that you produce high quality work of the type those sad pathetic sniers only wish they could. Bruunwald
I sell my own terrains at conventions (only, as my site never works). I sculpt or build them, mold them, cast them, paint them, etc. I'd say 99 out of 100 people have something decent to say, or at least are civil, even when my stuff is not their cup of tea. But every-so-often, somebody will walk up who wants to act like a big critic, or who talks big to his friends about what a better job he could do (if he ever felt like it, which he doesn't). Or some such rude behavior. This happens to my face, so believe me, I understand how offensive people can be. But the thing to remember is that no matter how big a hater talks, he will never sway somebody who likes your stuff. Just like all these forums, people argue and throw hate about, yet it never changes any of our minds, at least not on a fundamental level. The haters can't sway your fans, whether old or new, so don't let them sway you, or make you angry. Don't let them have that power. They aren't worth it, but your art is. Keep it up! SIGIL
I shoudl prbably further clarify that I did not paint this. Thsi was doen by Artem Sargeevich " Landreth " at CMON. I knwo it really shoudl nto bother me but I guess the idea that someone is doign this on purpose and I do nto know who it is bothers me. Ah well, I don't let it get to me as much as my whinging might suggest.
Hot Lead
But the thing to remember is that no matter how big a hater talks, he will never sway somebody who likes your stuff. Just like all these forums, people argue and throw hate about, yet it never changes any of our minds, at least not on a fundamental level. The haters can't sway your fans, whether old or new, so don't let them sway you, or make you angry. Don't let them have that power. They aren't worth it, but your art is. Keep it up! I couldn't agree more! CMON is like Mos Eisley... I've seen beautiful work get ridiculously-low scores. Then I saw the paint job of a famous painter's child get 9's and 10's, simply because it was his child. If no one knew that, the figure itself would have been 3 or 4 at best... CMON needs to be taken with a massive grain of salt. It's good for exposure and has helped popularize miniatures across the world, but the scoring method is broken. I'm with Anne that more transparency would help. I'd go one further and say only people who have posted pictures up on CMON should have the right to vote on other pics. Sort of like the "best of show" voting at Reapercon. BUT, that said, I concur with everyone that you should not feel one iota of doubt based on what people are voting for Red Box minis on CMON. You're an extremely talented sculptor, who has done some very innovative work on your minis. You have nothing to worry about! Your fans will continue to love your work... Take care, Laszlo

cookjimjr
Tre, I do understand what you are talking about and my solution was to ignore CMON altogether. I will not post another pic on that site to save my life. I am working other avenues to get my miniatures viewing time and contructive comments without having to feel like I am in a fixed contest everytime I post. Your Sculpts are awsome and because of that, all of the painters I have seen have done superb work on them. I do not remember seeing a bad paint job on an RBG mini. That should be all the confidence building you need. With your stuff, the artists see to want to take great care to produce the best piece they can. As evidence; look what was put out there for the WAMP contest last year. It was remarkable stuff. You know I am one of your biggest fans, because not only are your sculpts great, but you are one of the nicest people to do business with. Keep your head up and just laugh at the idiots that would not know a good sculpt if the Greeks themselves carved ti or a paint job if Picasso himself painted it. Darkstar
Wow that's your sculpt. Huh, that's awesome. I love all the details, skulls, animal skulls etc... Regarding CMON I personally love the site, wealth of inspiration and the top painters on this planet showcase their best stuff there so it's a goldmine of imagery and a database of painted wonders, but I've ignored the scores for the last 6 years. No painter I've ever met or have ever spoken to is happy with the scoring system there, so at least you're not alone. Make the most of the rest of the site but the scores could just be considered a novelty, a sideshow, and not the main attraction.
