Albinos

Probably no a new topic, if not, could someone point me in the direction of the thread :-) I'm painting a figure for a friend for our upcoming game. I'm using Reaper's miniature, Selwyn, and she is an albino.

I'm having some trouble getting it to look 'realistic', any advice, tips hints or other comments that might help me out here please :-)

The only thing I can think of would be to use the same white as for eyes, then wash it with Dwarf Flesh or possibly one of the lighter grays just to darken it a touch. A pure white will possibly cost some of the definition, and look a little unnatural.

BUT...these are techniques I don't use personally [i suck too bad for that]; I'm guessing based on lurking around these parts for ages and listening to others discuss. If somebody with more experience disagrees, by all means listen to them instead.

Check out this article by Chrispy off of CoolMiniorNot. There are a lot of fleshtone recipes here and they're pretty good - with representative photos, too. (Some very nice... *ahem* Where was I? )

In any case, this ought to help get you on a good track for it.

Hope your model comes out well!

That's a good article at CMON.

This is the general principle, as I see it: if you want to paint a miniature realistically, then find a reference-image from life (a photograph) and use those same colors on the miniature. (You can use Reaper's "Power Palette" application on the electronic image to identify the closest Reaper paint color, or you can print the photo and paint swatches over it to see what matches.)

Good luck!

When you've finished the figure, post pics to the Show-Off part of this forum.
