MonkeySloth
Picked up some Manic Zombie sprus a while ago and decided to play around with some basing techniques and skin tones. Thanks to Jabberwocky for the suggestion on actually using dirt for the basing material. These where quick paint jobs so I had too much reliance on liners over shading and should have gone darker. Don't really like how the shades turned out on this one.
Jay
Very cool! but according to the Encyclopedia Grammatica there's a little known rule of English grammar. "Brains" is spelled with a Z, not an S, when dealing with zombies... It's like "I before E, except after C" except with more undead.
MamaGeek
I agree, very cool. So, Jay, what you're saying is... Z is for Zombie!
Ferox
I like how these turned out! Great idea; think I might try it.
Jabberwocky
These turned out great, Monkeysloth! I'm using some dirt on a on small project I'm working on currently as well.
neuroticGOD
These are really nice! Great poses and a good paint job. The only detraction is the visible seam lines of the sculpts, otherwise ultra-cool. I may steal some of these designs for my own zombie army I'm building! MonkeySloth
Ya the mold lines on these were quite annoying to clean off, especially around the fingers, and I didn't really spend the time I normally do cleaning this type of thing up. Dr.Bedlam
Those are absolutely awesome. I envision putting them down en masse... around a group of characters... in a graveyard... at the top of the round... and looking at the players' faces. Hee, hee, hee. Foxden Racing
I do believe you may have just sold me on plastic bases. How did you seal the bottoms? I remember a WIP pic where the top platform was cut out to help with the 'bursting from the ground' look.
MonkeySloth
It's a trick I saw on brush thralls. You cut out the center of the base leaving just the ring, I use the standard hobby clippers to remove the bulk of the plastic, then super glue it to something like plasticard. This allows you to have a hollow base that you can fill up with stuff like water effect. If you look at my ice base thread you'll see one where I've got frozen head and arm in ice and it was done the same way.
Foxden Racing
I'll have to look into that. I'm also wondering if the GF9 'pint' and 'quart' bases could be glued to the underside... My one FLGS also has thin sheet metal bases, but I didn't see any rounds...just squares. Also something to consider.
