Popular Post dks
a.k.a. "Now I can reach the flour on the top shelf!" Here's an oldie-but-goodie, one of the longest-selling figures in Dark Heaven Legends. He has been in the line for 10 years, but Reaper hasn't had a painted example of him. I started this one before I went to the Reaper ArtistCon last week, and finished him there, and now he is part of the Reaper collection. The stack of books is a standard Reaper piece, from 02554 Magic Treasure II (sculpted by Bob Olley) The hedgehog is also a standard Reaper piece, from 02969 Familiar Pack VIII (sculpted by one of "various"). Since I wasn't sure of the colors before I started, I made a little sketch on paper and painted on it. I had a vague idea of browns and grays with blue accents, but the paint-sketch showed me that adding some green and yellow would help. I should have done a color study of the stack of books, too, since I spent ("wasted") about an hour painting the bottom and 3rd ones brown, only to repaint them to get the sequential green-teal-blue colors. Enjoy, Derek
haldir
Dang Derek, you even added the light reflection on the eyes on the sketch!! :) Nicely done. Love the colors you used. Surprisingly I actually have this one started, I went with a light green & either bright blue or purple (heck been so long since I've picked it up I can't remember, ha ha)

72moonglum
Very nice job and it's very nice to see a painted version of this to get an idea of "what goes where". Always as I've looked at this figure, I've gotten confused as to what piece of clothing is sculpted as where for what. I've always loved this figure and hope to paint it someday.

Darkstar
This mini's been around that long and I've never seen him. Wow. Cool idea with the books, great job on what looks like such a small figure.
Jabberwocky
This little guy has been languishing in a mostly completed state for years...I've got new motivation to finish him!

Warlady
Don't know how I missed this post - he's one of my favorite minis. Love the colors and the pose.
Evilhalfling
the stack of books was a wonderful idea, I wonder if I can do something similar with a dwarf, I have alot of unpainted dwarves. It would have to be rubble or treasure instead of books of course. Edited September 16, 2015 by Evilhalfling
