wildbill
(For the record, I want it to be known that hotels, community centers, etc have a VERY high opinion of their conference rooms!! ) Hear ye! Hear ye! It is time once again for that most noble of all quests: Proving thy mettle in one-on-one combat in a Last Man Standing Tournament! Each combatant will be required to summon forth 1,000 points of their best troops for the smiting of their enemies. Three rounds of comraderie, jousting and stunning upsets will begin promptly at 11 am. Each round will last no longer than 3 hours, or until the last enemy model has been properly smited, whichever occurs first. The battlefield chosen by the Organizer of the Tournament will be at the Tulsa Square Hotel, located in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Tulsa Square Hotel 3209 S. 79th E. Ave. Tulsa, OK 74145 (918) 663-1000 Please RSVP to the Organizer if you wish to partake in the glorious bloodshed known as the Last Man Standing Tournament! William Barrett [email protected] There are 16 open slots for the tournament. I will be running the tournament, and only plan on playing should there be an odd number of players. With the start time being 11 AM, I do plan on providing donuts that you can munch on before (and I suppose during ) the first round. There is no real "Grand Prize" for playing. You are playing for bragging rights to proclaim yourself King of the Tulsa Warlord Scene! This is a Kill 'Em All tournament, so no scenarios will be forthcoming. Also, if you want to stay at the Tulsa Square Hotel either Friday night and/or Saturday night of that weekend, their room rate is $59 (plus taxes and stuff of course ) per night. The first 16 people to let me know that they are going travel here to play get the slots. If I have that many people that want to travel from out of state, I will make Warwick step aside to make room. Seriously, I hope to have a good turnout for this. It has been a long time since Tulsa has hosted a Warlord tournament. It is time to begin anew! Wild Bill
wildbill
Oh, and I forgot to mention it earlier: Proxies are obviously allowed, but please please please do your best to use models to represent what you are fielding. Don't field 3 different unit of spearmen and then have them represent spearmen, warriors and shooters. That gets very confusing to all parties involved and just leads to conflicts! I want this to be a fun experience for everyone! Also, for those of your Mercenary players, that rule that Gus put in stating that you can only use Change of Heart from the Core Rulebook? It's gone. I think it's lame, so you can use that doctrine on anything out of either rulebook. If I think of any clarifications later, I'll post them. ViciousPanzer
You may also want to consider making the Gaan'Hor list of doom verboten. I've never seen it beaten when played properly and only took us 1 tournament to realize it was a bit much for "friendly" matches. It's the closest thing to a broken list that exists and can ruin a lot of fun. . unless of course someone out there thinks they have what it takes to stop it? Stubbdog
HEY DUDE!!! Awesome to see VP still checking in the forums!!! well, just house rule either : 1. that first strike cannot be used while flying (or flying models attacking ground models). or 2. that you have to have space for your base to be able to do a flying swift attack. or both.. So, I am thinking that I will ONLY do what you request if you actually agree to play and ride up with Stubbdog to the tournament. well, just house rule either : 1. that first strike cannot be used while flying (or flying models attacking ground models). or 2. that you have to have space for your base to be able to do a flying swift attack. or both.. 1) First Strike can not be used by Flying models against ground models. It can be used by Flying models against other models that are also currently flying. 2) Swift Attack can only be used if there is enough space for your model to come into legal base-to-base contact. That sounds like a plan. Wild Bill
wildbill
Ok, one last adjustment to your army building rules: "Each player must field the same army list for all three games, including which Faction Doctrine that they will be using. So, for example, if you are fielding Dwarves and elect to utilize the Giant Slayers Doctrine, and then do not face a single large or giant sized model the entire tournament, then that is just bad luck for you. This will help even the playing field for players that choose to create a thematic army list based upon one specific Faction Doctrine. They do not get the luxury of switching back and forth game to game, so I am setting this restriction for everyone." This should be the end of changes! I hope! Inarah
Do all the proxies have to be Reaper figures -- seeing how this is an informal event -- or will we be allowed to use minis from *cough* another manufacturer? While most of my Nefsokar were made in Denton, there's a handful that weren't and it makes a big difference in which army list I might bring. I have a couple of Dwarf models that aren't Reaper but still look cool, so I field them.
wildbill
So, in case any of you may be thinking about wanting to come up and play, and can't decide, how's free donuts and pizza? Maybe that'll change your mind?
wildbill
I just wanted to add a wrinkle to the mix: There will be prizes at my tournament. They will be for various things , including Best Painted Army. For this prize, I am bringing in an independent 3rd party judge to peruse your painting skills. I hope to see you there! Evilmonkey
It is a wee bit too far for me to travel to but it sounds like it would be a blast.
Stubbdog
I am planning on being there. And I am pretty sure I have got Thirsty Steve lined up to come too. Trying to rope in a third but not sure yet.
Inarah
Weather permitting, I think we'll come down. It's been a *very* mild winter so far, scary in its own way, and that weekend is historically when our bad ice storms hit. So, if the skies and roads are clear expect to see us.
