Tulsa Warlord Revival!

Recommended Posts

I might not be able to go now because of work concerns... I'm trying to get out of it but since the company pays the bills I'm not going to push it too far.

Your job definitely comes first! Playing in my tournament does not pay the rent or put food on your table. ::): Do what you have to do! Should your schedule shake free all of a sudden, then definitely call me! Maybe you can still join us! ::):

I apologize about taking so long to get a post up following the conclusion of yesterday's very fun and successful Revival! I had 120 pictures to download, sort through, and then upload to Photobucket. Sheesh! That took a while!

Anyways, here is a list of the players and what faction there were fielding.

Brian Sisters

Micah Icingstead

Jason Icingstead

Joe Crusaders

Dawn Elves

Paul Reptus

Jay Crusaders

Kim Necropolis

There were three hard fought rounds for each player. At the end, we had one 3-0 player, and alas, that meant one 0-3 player as well. I also had a local gentleman by the name of Randy come in to be an independent painting judge. Most people know my skill with judging a painting contest. "Wow! That guy has cool armor! He wins! No wait! This guy has even COOLER armor! He wins!" LMAO! Randy was a much better choice. :poke::lol:

I am sure you want to know who came where and got what prizes. FINE! ::P: Mister Brian flew all of the way to Tulsa from North Carolina to particpate and was rewarded with First Place! He won a really sweet dragon handled dagger that had "2012 Tulsa Warlord Revival Master" engraved on the blade. Of course, since he flew here, he was not able to take it with him. I told him I would mail it to him. We'll see.:lol:

Poor Joe came in Last Place at 0-3. I had ordered a new set of d10s two weeks ago that I had planned to give to the player who came in Last Place. Wouldn't you know it that they HAVEN'T shown up yet? :grr: Thankfully Joe is local so I will give him his new dice probably this week! Thank you Joe for being patient! ::):

Randy determined that Dawn was a very close Second Place in the painting contest, and so he donated a new set of painting brushes as the prize. Randy then said that Jason took First Place in the painting contest, and I rewarded him with a $25 Reaper gift certificate. Of course, Jason owns like every Reaper model, so hurry up Reaper peeps and make more models for Jason to spend his certificate on! LOL!

A quick note about the pictures before I put in the link. You will notice that some of the games have more pictures in them than others. This is not because I found those games "unexciting" (not at least that I will admit in public ), but due to the nature of Warlord and army design, some games just finished faster than others. So, I had more opportunities to take pictures of those games than those devilishly fast players! ::P: Also, while I attempted to keep tabs on how fast a game was going, sometimes one ended before I noticed quickly enough so I didn't quite get a picture of what was left on the table at the end. I apologize about that.

Anyways, here is the link to the pictures. If it doesn't work, please let me know. They should be set to public.

As I said, a fun time was had by all! I know I was already hitting up the Tulsans for meeting up on Thursdays to throw down some more Warlord! Hint hint. :poke:

Because this was such a fun event, I plan on making this an annual thing in January! The actual weekend to be chosen in January can be debated (maybe the 3rd or 4th weekend?), but I want everyone to keep it on the back of their minds and start penciling in their vacation requests for next year! I want it to grow bigger and better every year! Let's keep it coming! ::D:

It was good times. My Iceingstead army was restricted by what painted models I had on hand, but I liked it anyway. First time with them and I was pleasantly surprised. I even remembered to use the faction doctrine. Alas, I forget to use the Warlord Ability once. Not once. Oh well. It's always tough learning a new trick.

It was fun to dig out all the terrain and see how many tables I could make. I made most of this back in 1999. It holds up to much abuse.

My opponents all were fun to play and we had a lot of laughs. If you can laugh off an albino alligator charging 20 inches to steamroll your mage into a puddle, you've got the world in your hand.

Thanks for the pictures and report Bill. I wish I had been able to go, hopefully I can make it next year.

A suggestion for next year? Maybe you could get close up pictures of the armies that arrived painted?

I will, but only if you come to play.

No, as I was the only non-player, there were no casual games happening. By the time the 3rd round finished, we had a limited amount of time remaining before we were supposed to be out of the room. Thus, no real time for a casual 4th game. ::):

No, I didn't think to take any pictures of the winning armies (close up, anyways) or of the dagger. It just didn't occur to me! It had been a long day by then. :poke:
