Fiddley Bits questions

For those that play regularly, I have some questions regarding things other than models and rules.

Do you print out and use data cards per indivual model, or one for each type of model (or per type of model in each troop)?

What do you use for the various tokens and do you have different ones for each and every element (individual state markers, damage tracks, etc.) ?

Do you keep the markers/tokens with the models, on their data cards, or...?

I'm sure I'll think of more (or the answers will lead to more), but thats a good start, I figure...

I and everyone in the Austin, TX uses one card per model type. Basically the printout from the Army Creator over on Reaper Games.

I use the War Cogs tokens from Gale Force 9 that I also use for my War Machine Protectorate of Menoth Force. I'm going to pick up their wound counters in the near future.

Litko makes the official Warlord Template and wound counter set.

For wounds I currently use tiny d6's.

Markers go next to or on the model base of the affected model. Basic Wargaming etiquette taught to me by some ancient neckbeard when I was first getting into the hobby.

I have entered the data cards into an Excel format (just never have cared for the card format). I can then cut-n-paste my lists. Everything fits onto 1 side of 1 page and I don't have to rely on the vagaries of the Army Builder's Printing Page Breaks.

I use knitting rings as markers (white for damage and various colors for other states - state & color named when placed). For models that don't have a good place to hang a ring from, I put a short wire 'ring toss' on the base to hold the rings. The rings are dirt cheap and useful for so many other games.

See above. I don't like dice for wound markers as then can 'roll' to new numbers and they tend not to stay well with the mini. In a scrum, tracking which die goes with which mini can be a royal pain as well. Though, I DO admit to using small d12s and d20s to track spell points..with fewer models requiring these, it tends to be tons easier to track.

I use glass beads and various small plastic tokens and bits for marking model states and so forth and small d6 for marking damage. As herzogbrian notes, most games similar to Warlord involve quite alot of tracking of spells and effects. I've got a little plastic tray (taken from the cover of a toolbox I've had for ages, originally for nails, screws, and other small bits that need organizing) that holds a dry erase marker, pencil, the full run of common dice plus extras of d10 and d6, and 8 different colors of plastic tokens, plus my 1/2 inch tape. It goes with me wherever I game - at the D&D table I'm mainly using the dice but find various uses for the tokens. When I play Warmachine or Warlord the dice used are of course of a more limited variety, and the plastic tokens get used more often. I've found it to be very handy to have one container with the accessories I need for all of my games, instead of trying to have different sets of dice or tokens for all of the games, or worse still having some accessories that are common to several or all of the games and others that are specific - all kept in different places. It's no fun when you get ready to game and have to wonder where X or Y important bit is.
