Hi guys,

just got done finishing up the last class for my MBA program and also just finished up a trio of miniatures after not having finished anything since about December.

These two are from Ral Partha/Iron Wind Metals, a Middle Eastern themed slaver as well as a captive princess. I'm not too happy with the photos because they look a little washed out, but with the new photo editing software I'm using from my new computer, that's about the best I can do.

I wanted on the slaver's shield the cyclops from the Sinbad movie that Ray Harryhausen animated, which is also a classic old Dennis Mize model, http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Image:DF-278.JPG, but I think he came out looking more like a little, angry, one-eyed pig with a horn on his head.

Anyway, hope you enjoy!

Mark

Nice colors, excellent freehand on the shield. It's way better than any freehand I can do and I instantly thought cyclops! I think with the slave princess it must be one of those cool desert nights...

I like the scimitar and am just starting to get comfortable with NMM myself, so I understand. Other more trained eyes might make referenece to a specific lighting focal or something but not from me.

Great paint job on both of these!

Just one question though...what's holding her top together?

The string seems to be missing between her breasts.

Don't feel bad though. I've taken pics and posted a mini without eyebrows before. ::D:

It's funny some of the things we miss/don't notice till someone else has a look.

I actually kind of wondered that myself, but being tht it wasn't actually on the miniature I didn't paint it in. I figured it would look better as it was sculpted as opposed to me painting a fictitious line. That, plus already painting the lines that were there were stressful enough, the ones that go over her shoulders from the bikini top!

The scimitar is not at all bad, certainly better NNM than I can do. The biggest issue I see is that it looks just a little bit like someone has run some sandpaper across the blade (which is not at all a good way to maintain a sword, but whose do say the slaver knows that?).

Leaving the bikini top as it is would work fine, it is a fantasy piece after all. Boris Valejo and Juli Bell make extensive use of mysteriously adhesive articles of censorship in their artwork. However, pPainting a line between the two hemisheres (if you will), might actually work fairly well if its thin and dark enough. You can also paint on a knot pretty easily (I recently did this with a string bikini on a mini, I'll have to post a pic). If you wanted to go ahead and put it on, I would say go with the mid tone to shade of the blue you used for the cloth as opposed to a gold. This will make it stand out better without having to blackline the gold, and keep with the airy feel of the main bulk of the costume. At a guess I would say that the blue paint would also have a better consistency for that kind of freehand work.
