MiniCannuck
Hey, I've been collecting minis for quite awhile now. When I started, it was easy as there was little cross over from one game system to another. However, with the rise of the skirmish game and miniature friendly RPGs in a variety of genres, I'm finding it hard to keep track of what is where. So, here is my question. Does anyone know a program that will keep track of what minis are in your collection? I would like to use it on a tablet (either iPad or Android is fine) as well as my laptop. This way I can enter data easily but also have it with me on a portable device when I searching through the mini bins at the conventions. I've been experimenting with Open Office Base program but find that I'm VERY rusty on my dbase skills! Any suggestions/help would be greatly appreciated. Moderator TaleSpinner Posted March 2, 2012 Moderator Share Posted March 2, 2012 A really good list tracking tool that I use for many things, including my painting journal and other mini lists I keep is called ListMonger. I use it on my iPod touch and I know is is available for iPad as well. Andy
Shakandara
There are several existing threads on the subject of tracking the horde (the most recent started by Warwick, I think). It seems like many of us end up using either something like Access or Excel to manage the list. I am unaware of any programs designed specifically for this task, but it seems like anything that is designed to track inventory would be adaptable. ~v
MiniCannuck
Thanks Talespinner - I will take a look at that one Shakandra - I'm hoping that there is something out there for us "mini collectors" out there like there is for comics, stamps and coins. Maybe this is a pipe dream. As for other threads, I am having issues trying to find them but I will continue to try. Remember, some of us are relatively new to this forum and don't know what the past conversations were.
Belegur
There is an iOS app called Items & Storage by Kiwi Objects that I was just looking at. I down loaded the lite version but haven't messed with it yet. It may be worth giving it a try.
Beowulfthehunter
I usually photograph my minis and organize them by manufacturing, but for my own records I do not. The minis either get sold or are put in my china cabinent for showing off.
Akiosama
Um... this box is for Clan War, that box is for Reaper, this one is for GW, and that one is for Privateer. It helps when nothing's painted. My 2 yen, Akiosama
Shakandara
Remember, some of us are relatively new to this forum and don't know what the past conversations were. Of course. That's why I told you there were previous threads. Then you get to practice your search-fu and go find them... ~v
joshuaslater
My models are mostly at home, but I've got lots at friends' places. There. That's as much organizing as I can stand. I like to put blisters in boxes, leave'em a spell, and then go through the boxes and rediscover what I have. It's like Christmas that way. Any day of the year. Lorderl
I would imagine that whatever software Reaper uses to track their line of minitaures would be sweet to have. I used to keep most of my collection stored in my head, then slowly started losing track. Wrote something down once but lost track of that file somehow. So i just be interested in someone elses database from which i could insert the quantity of each figure.
Serenity
If you check these files intended for retailers, etc., you'll find a lot of ready data to populate your spreadsheet or database. The CSV files are the current ones. I don't know if they have anything around that includes all the old, OOC items in a simple format like this. Adrift
I have a numbers spreadsheet for my D&D Minis collection and another numbers spreadsheet which tracks my paintable figures with different tabs for minis that have been painted, aren't yet painted, on my wish list to acquire, etc. I also keep notes referencing why I might buy a particular mini (elf, dwarf, fighter, monk, rogue). It works for me.
MonkeySloth
I just store them away and hope I remember them all. Every few months I look through what I have for potential projects and if I find something I forgot about its as if I had just bought a new mini--without having to spend money.
