Loim
Is it sad that I'm thinking of buying this? http://www.amazon.co.../ref=pd_sim_t_1
joshuaslater
No. It's sad that anyone thinks they can ever have enough zombies.
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted March 14, 2012 Moderator Share Posted March 14, 2012 Just a warning - they really don't scale well to Reaper figures unless you really like undead halflings.
joshuaslater
Undead children are plenty scary too.
Baphomet69
Froggy is, of course, correct. They are more like 20mm figs or there abouts. On a side note, that is a fantastically fun game with the right group of people. I've laughed harder playing Zombies!!! than I have with anything else in years. Loim
Dammit Froggy, why did you have to kill my buzz? Thanks for the information though. This is really just one of those random things I found by accident, and wondered, "Why didn't they have these when I was a kid?"
Dr.Bedlam
No, Froggy's got it. They're handy as zombie markers, but they're closer to 20mm than 25mm. That, and they're all the same. Even in my zombie horde, I like variety.
Baphomet69
As an aside, if you seek lots of fairly cheap zombies, you might check out Wargames Factory for modern multi-piece zombies, or Mantic games for medieval or fantasy zombies - also multi-part. sethohman
They are actually 1/72, I believe - which makes them 20mm-ish.
zemjw
Never one to miss the opportunity to push my blog visitor numbers into single digits I did a couple of posts on making bases for these figures that bring them up to a more usable size (the search returns them in the wrong order, so scroll down for the first post). They'll never be great figures, but at least they don't look quite so out of place with the taller bases. It's also worth spending 5 minutes with clippers on them - remove random arms and legs to give a bit of variety
Dr.Bedlam
Sethohman could be right, but they seem to me to be that teeeeny bit bigger than my 1/72 figures. Furthermore, they're slightly smaller than the shotgun guy pawns included with the game, so they're not even quite in scale with their own game! This being said, it's still a fun party game, although I recommend Last Night On Earth for the true zombie fiend lookin' for a scare. Eilif
I quickly painted up about 34 of these for a zombie game we ran last halloween. http://chicagoskirmi...all-things.html It's true that the zombies do not scale well with chronoscope figs. Chronoscope figs are close to 30mm or more and IIRC, these zombies are a bit less than 25mm from sole to eyeline. Some folks have called them 1:72 (aka, 20mm), but I have figs in that scale and these are much larger than that. I left them on the thick base and put that on top of a metal washer. That gave me figures that were almost as tall as standard minis, and the size isn't very noticible in a group. A bit of spackle around the edge quickly hid the join and some painted and drybrushed sand gave a nice urban texture. The rest of the painting was equally haphazard. White prime, greenish white wash, random colors for the clothes and messily applied red for gore. Then I dipped them and called them done. Unfortunately I have no close up pics as I ended up gifting them and a few rebased heroclix to a friend who wanted to play zombie games and didn't have any figs of his own. If you look to the right side of the mob here, they are the ones with the round, lighter gray mound-ish base and outstreched hand. A couple of the hexe-based zombies (most of which are wargames Factory figs) painted by a fiend of mine are Bag-o-zombies figs too. One of which is right in the foreground. All this to say, that they aren't great figs, but can be just the thing when you need a mass of zombies quickly and cheaply. The mono-pose and size doesn't make it seem worthwhile to spend alot of time painting them, but that's not so much of a problem for a horde of zombies that might only see the table a couple times a year and they look good on the table.
