Oh my! No it didn't include the Nick Fury movie, which I will be hunting for now! How did I miss this? And it's David Hasslehoff! ::): Thank you for the info!

No Anne, stop! No one should be subjected to the horrors of this awful made-for-tv crapfest. The Hoff in tight leather pants scarred me for life.

Seriously though, what was wrong with the 'paper thin' plot? Has anyone that complained about this ever read some of the early Avengers stories? I thought the movie was completely and utterly brilliant. It was a perfect mix of old and new. For those who don't know, Loki's lust for revenge against Thor was the catalyst for the forming of the original Avengers. This inculsion, and the fact that the movie actually made me give a damn about Hawkeye for the first time in my comics reading career, facilitate my ranking this as the best movie I have ever seen in a theater. Well done, Joss Wheadon. Enjoy your laurels, you deserve them.

Of all the movies I've ever seen in a theatre, there are only two I've gone BACK to see in the theatre....and of those two, only ONE was awesome enough to justify paying full-price twice AND with a bag of popcorn.

As for plot, sure I've seen more complex plots, but what makes this movie great is how each character gets to develop a bit more depth individually and then how the group comes together as a team.

As for most brilliant scene, without telling too much, I think Black Widow's opening vignette may have been the best...in spite of me being such a huge fan of Hulk...who has a pretty memorable one-liner of his own toward the end. :)

The Matrix.

As much as I loved The Avengers, not much will ever touch the "OMFG how did they do that?" feeling of watching The Matrix for the first time. Now that CGI is such an integral part of movie-making, nothing really packs the same punch.

Did they use CGI in Avengers?

.... ;) ...(kidding)

But seriously, the quality of the CGI was so high and more importantly the STORY was so captivating that there were few moments it even dawned on me to contemplate the how'd-they-do-it aspect of some of the more spectacular elements and appreciate the actual design of those elements.

During the whole scene with the flying aircraft carrier, I could only think ab out how such a thing could be made to work better if such-and-such was made this way or that way instead. The quality of the effect, which I guess was quite difficult to achieve, as any effect with water must be, was good enough to utterly suspend disbelief.

In a way it's cool that the CGI has become commonplace. How many crap movies came out that looked cool but had a subpar story. Hopefully we will start getting both since just cool affects don't draw as well.

Somewhat Avengers-related...if you hung around after the credits for the easter-egg, you probably are wondering if shawarma tastes as good as it looks?

Well.... yes..yes it does! Apparently delis that sell shawarma are enjoying a real boom in business since the movie, and after my nice lunch experience today I intend to keep the trend trending.
