Cronoan
Hi guys! Okay so this is my first post ever, please be gentle. I hope to be very active here in the future. My boyfriend put me on miniature painting, and Reaper figures are my favorite so far. I've painted traditionally my whole life, and digital media has been my forte for the past 4 years or so. I am very much enjoying being back at traditional media in a new field. So this is my second mini painted, a 72mm Sophie. I used artist acrylics severely watered down, and I mixed all the colors from primaries, white, and black since I'm too poor (or cheap) to buy more colors. I'm working on that. The base is sculpted from Sculpey clay and baked with an aluminum structural core. And I need to practice with static grass a bit before trying it again. >< Any C&C is geatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. :)
Akiosama
Looking good, Cro. =) Glad you finally are showing off your stuff! Glad you're enjoying the hobby! My 2 yen, Akiosama
Jordan Peacock
That rocky base looks great! I also really like the dark-red gradients on the wings, giving the suggestion that the wings are black, but that they're just ever-so-slightly translucent, and showing off a bit of red with the light shining through.
Sanael
Really nice work overall! Tha basing is fantastic...with static grass, make sure you gently blow across the grass after putting it down into the glue--this will make it stand up and look like grass, instead of letting it drop limply like grass clippings. Your painting is really lovely; I also love the wings. You'll find, as you get into these tiny scales, that you have to work harder than in 2D to get the shadows and whatnot on things like skin (Sophie's is a little flat right now), but you've got a great start here! Welcome to the boards. Now show us more!
Kuro Cleanbrush
Hey! Welcome to the forums! It really is a very nice, very friendly place around here, so you never need to worry about people being harsh Your artistic background really looks to have been a boon here; Sophie is superb for your first mini, and you're off to a great start! Plan on doing any 28mm minis? Or do you like the larger scale?

Cronoan
Thanks very much everyone for your kind comments! Indeed I am very impressed with the community here and look forward to being very active. Sanael- Yes I definitely am grappling with shading exaggerated shadows, and I'll keep working on giving future pieces more added depth. Kuro- Actually, this is my second mini. My first was Pearl the Mermaid, and I need to take good pics of her since I built my light box. I like the scale of the 72mm, but I really like the challenge of working at the smaller scales and trying to refine details at that level. I'm currently working on Queen Ileosa, and her face is such a challenge! I'll be putting a WIP of her up soon to get some feedback once I have another go at fleshing out her facial features. Thanks so much for the warm welcome guys! =D
Jay
I like the base. The paint job is good. My only nit is that she needs eye shadow to make her eyes stand out more.
