Evil Empire has Evil Customer Service - Surprised?

I'm going to agree with Lars here. I've also received outstanding service. In fact within the last year I received a mis-packed Land Raider. I called them and they sent me a replacement no questions asked.

The real truth is if you like their stuff you should buy it. They put out great figures. They also release some real stinkers, just like every other figure company out there.

Sounds like they've got a few bad customer service reps ruining things. Might not be a bad idea to demand to talk to a supervisor when you have a bad experience. If they're treating you like crap, report it. If they won't connect you to a supervisor, go through alternate channels to contact them. It's not sounding like it's endemic to the company, so there's a good chance that elevating it will get a better response.

...I have no desire to suffer self-abuse ... This is one of the reasons I mostly stick with Beekeepers...

Thanks for the laugh...

As for GW customer service, I've heard nothing but good things about it (many of my customers have had bad experiences with finecast models). If you bought the part from your FLGS, they should be able to call up GW and advocate for you if you feel they aren't giving you what you deserve (I know I would).

I'm only a Stockist level store, but I've never seen anything that says I can't sell their metal models (Stockist stores are only obligated to carry plastic boxed sets however).

900lbs Gorilia = win {hahahahahahaaaa}

Ten years ago I placed an order of almost entirely bitz (remember when you could do that on their website?). They sent me someone elses order by mistake, a really expensive one too. I called their CS and reported the error. The guy who took my call apologized and told me my order would be delivered in a day or two. I asked where I was to send the models I didn't pay for and he simply said, "Oh you can keep them, have a great day!" and hung up. I've not had reason enough to contact them since then and having read through this thread I am grateful.

I'm assuming most of you are refering to the USA Customer Service? My expirence in the UK and up in Sweden was exceptionally pleasent. I even got all of the new Blood Angels stuff a full day before it was released because I explained to the clerk I was US Navy and was on a short port call.

As for Reaper CS I very recently had a very positive expirence! I ordered a metal model online that was missing it's only unattached piece. I emailed in and got a replacement a week later, no fuss no muss.

I've never used their products (see below), but my children and their cousins do, and my gosh, the prices are ridiculous.

The staffs level of... I'll be polite and say enthusiasm, can be counter-productive and more off putting than welcoming, I've come in to have a look and maybe buy something not be barraged by questions first, also I'm rotund and beardy, how much of a stereotypical old-school wargamer do I need to look to not be treated like I know nothing!

It's like being assaulted by a large over-friendly dog, only one that has far too much interest in your wallet.

I know exactly what you mean. I was collecting LotR for a while. I went into the local store once and left feeling like I had been at a used car lot. I just wanted to go home and take a shower.

I have had a very different experience. I chalk it up to Gaming While Female.

The one time I went to an Evil Empire store to shop (my kids, as I said, use their figures, and they looked not too bad, if pricey), the store clerk utterly ignored me, despite my increasingly unsubtle comments to my husband and his to me about me being the serious minis enthusiast in our family.

My husband, however, he kept pestering, despite his polite indifference to everything there.

After about ten minutes of my being resoundingly ignored, we left, never to buy anything there again (the kids can have mail order).

Maybe it was just that one store (it has since closed). But maybe their sales pitches differ according to the gender of the customer.

This hopefully just depends on the individual staff members and how much of an idiot they are, but a female friend of mine was put off when she went into one of their stores and the staff member was telling her about Vampires and used the phrase "like Twilight" as a selling point. She didn't go back.

It's not just me then. I ... had a similiar bad experience at the nearest gaming store to me last week. The only gaming store near to me, alas.

However my local comic book store is willing to order things for me, though their distributor has issues with reporting 'we have that' on Monday then the order arrives on Thursday and 'nope, out of stock'. But I want the store to stay in business, and they give me my comic book subscriber discount when I order game stuff too so I'm going to keep trying them first..

Typically I'll call ahead to the various stores in my area if I need something specific. Most of the time they don't have it in stock and I have to resort to eBay. I also deal in heavy bitz buying as I convert just about every Evil Empire model I build. If EE were willing to open their own bitz baazar they could easily make up the difference in profit that they blame the price hikes on.

Yes the distributors are beginning to just shoot themselves in the foot. It's getting to the point where I place orders and then 4-6 weeks later get told by the store they are unable to get said product. Then I go online buy that product. I stopped buying Reaper figures from my store because they slap an extra dollar or two onto the MSRP of Reaper products and I have very little patience for that.

:(

My FLGS is only moderately L, since it's an hour's drive out of the city in an obscure suburb.

However, it is very F. The first time my husband and our brood visited, the clerk inquired (in the friendliest of ways) if I'd like to sit while I waited for the family to shop (okay, ugh, the "assume Mom is not a gamer" thing), but when kid #1 stepped up to the plate and asked me if I had enough dice and I answered that that was a trick question, he recovered immediately and treated me with as much help and courtesy as everyone else.

And they always have Reaper minis in stock, and it's always the MSRP, and they have mailed me orders I've phoned in and they have gotten here the next day.

I love my FLGS.

I don't mind GW, but I do very much hate when I go into a place and it's all they have. And then I'm looking around, and one of the neckbeards comes up and asks if I'm looking for a miniature. And then when I ask "y'all gots any Reaper?" I get the hard sell on why Games Workshop is WAY BETTER and YOU SHOULD PLAY WARHAMMER and then twenty minutes later he's bleeding, I'm 'splaining myself to the cops, and all I ever really wanted was a frackin Dennis Mize sexy barbarian chick in impractical armor.

Just ain't right.

There, there, Buglips. I understand completely. Here, have a drink this nice old lady gave me. She said its made out of apples.

...Mostly apples...

... She also warned me not to store it in metal containers, and that if I wasn't careful it would take the hair off the cat.
