Kickstarter Discussion Thread

So it appears the growth is slowing now. I've never done Kickstarter before. Is this typical?
Most projects have a funding curve that is rather like an inverse bell curve, in terms of new dollars pledged per day. People seem to like to either jump on in the first 2-3 days, or wait until the last 2-3 days.

There's also the effect that in the first 3 days, we have put a lot of effort on our forum, other fora, Facebook, Google Plus etc. and reached an audience of a certain size. Now, we have very few ways to spontaneously reach another set of thousands of people like we have already reached. And trust me, I'm always looking for a new place to talk about this, so more people have a chance to be a part.

As the project grows, it will become more exciting to the people already involved, and they will use their channels to promote it to new people. Also remember, this goes on for 31 more days. Even if it takes us 28 hours instead of 24 to make this funding goal, we have plenty of time to go a lot of exciting places.

If you want to help, though, Help spread the word, *whether or not you have pledged*. You might not want to participate, but you might know someone who does.

So I'd love to do the visit Reaper HQ thing but the cost and the amount of days just are something I'm having trouble dealing with (getting 5 days off of work will be hard) so if I sent you guys an email would you entertain the idea of a 2 or 3 day package?

For that. as much as I would love to tell you "pledgepledgepledge", It would be disingenuous of me. You would probably be better off spending a weekend at ReaperCon as an attendee, meeting us, taking tours, playing games and painting classes/sculpting classes with us, etc. It's not as focused, but it's a great weekend!

I cross a ocean to attend the last ReaperCon and worthed every second... the guys are great, the classes awesome and you always can go to a BBQ restaurant after a long day playing and painting. :-)

So, I'm guessing that there will be an enormous bin of miniatures that I have by the end of this.

I'm expecting that every time I start a new RPG campaign, we'll be pulling it out and telling each player to pick one to get painted up.

Also, we'll likely never want for antagonists again.

Never wanting for antagonists is exactly why I gave Bones a chance, and I'm glad I did. I will always love my metal, but the current price of metal sucks for immense figures, monster hordes, and the like. If I were to drop $50 on metal at my FLGS, I might get 15 figures, if they have stuff on the shelf that's been there for 7-8 years and is still priced as such...but I'm likely to walk out of there with only 5-7 figs, not exactly an intimidating army of enemies to swarm the players with.

Or I could drop that $50 on Bones, where I could get 9 3-packs of orcs, or 14 3-to-6-packs of smaller creatures [rats/kobolds/etc], or ~20 1-packs of ogres/orcs/gnolls/trolls/etc, depending on the exact mix of $2 and $3 models. And let's face it, a 20-man mixed army of Gnolls and Trolls is a lot scarier than a half-dozen humans!

It's an absolute no-brainer, and as a bonus saves the metal for the PCs and BBEGs and showpieces, which are less likely to get tossed across the table to enthusiastic cries of 'Sploot!'. I win, as I get more for my money and less damage to my figures. The players win, since they get more interesting and grander battles. Reaper wins, since they get more of my money; $2.50 is a lot easier to justify as an instant-gratification impulse-spend than $8 is. $2.50 is pocket change; $8 is dinner [or if I'm cooking at home, dinner for a week].

To be honest, I'm hitting the kickstarter because I have been sold on the line, have been sold on the company for years, and want to see both stay really successful. The stuff is just a bonus; I'm picking the specific rewards I am to get the figures I can't get because I can't afford a yearly trip to Texas, along with a giant box of Bones to add to my giant box of metal.

Rauthuros's tombstone definitely seems to be just above the crypt and the tombstone next to the 90K sure look like a dragon… But with one! Is that the Dragon of Fire as it looks like in the video? Or, is that the Young Ice Dragon since it is already found is the Legendary Encounters line?

Then I would guess for an Orc War Party of Kargir. There’s already some nice Black Orcs in the Mummy level but then, a couple of Orc Spearmen and Archers would form a great War Party along with some Orc Warriors.

Also the Crypt would be a good place to find Vampires, Gargoyles and Giant Spiders. I see some coffins down there…

It’s easy to presume that all of the Legendary Encounters could be found along the way as their mould may probably be used to produce the Bones but then again that’s only speculation.

Ok - I would ike everybody to help us spread the word! We're funded. This is a guarantee now. But there's a lot of molds we want to make that we need help funding still.

Take THIS

Post it as your avatar on other forums. Put it on your Facebooks as Profile pictures. Make it your Blog Header. Put it everywhere people can see it. People can't help if they don't know - and we want to see just how far down the rabbit hole really goes, right?

Glad you guys came up with the Idea for a kickstarter :;): . I love the bones line since the troubled economy has impacted metal minis so dramatically. I hope you guys get enough loot to move production in house!

Do the Bones minis at Vampire level come with packaging, UPCs, etc, or are they loose figures not labeled for individual sale?

Bryan,

I would add this to your news post and the reaper home page. That way it doesn't get buried in this thread.

Consider it it taken... :)

I shall ask.
I think it would be perfectly understandable for them to come loose, It is just a good thing to have mentioned for collectors and possibly retailers.

Speaking of collecting and retailing, Any way for non retailers to get a package deal of the "59 different bones" listed in the "Undertaker" level? Or is that what will become available on the kickstarter as funding goals are met? I would have went for the undertaker level, but I'm assuming one would HAVE to have a retailers licence to get that deal.

And here I was coming to update this thread... Shoulda known yall'd get to it first.

WHOOT! Dragon! I assume he'll need assembly?

Also can we pledge $20 to to get two?

I believe that he will come packaged in our hard shell box set case and will be pre-assembled except for the wings, which can be super glued in. Bear in mind, we haven't made the mold yet (it has been funded!) so that may change.

And we are not placing limits on how many you can buy of the Options, so yes, for $20 you get two. Same goes for the Fire Giants, and any other Options that get funded in the weeks to come.
