Like I said, I'm not going to complain about more free minis

For someone that isn't complaining, you've spent the better part of 3 long posts telling us why you are unhappy with the Dracolich/Dungeon Dressing stretch goal level. I think that bears a little contemplation...

If it helps you, think of this in terms of the early stretch goals: the dungeon dressing is a freebie at 20K in (i.e. 1,020,000), and the Dracolich is the other 90K. The last dragon that was a goal all by itself was Deathsleet at a 40K jump for a $10 buy-in; $90K for a $25 buy-in on an as-yet unreleased Dracolich (that should be a huge piece) is a bargain. Instead of two seperate reveals, we got them all at once.

If that doesn't help, build a bridge and get over it. You've stated your opinion, and it's not going to change the stretch goal. Let it go and move on.

Dr Wyrm can go @#!& himself for all I care.
Dr. Wyrm is one of our surlier members. I routinely have to remind him to be polite. I'd reccomend taking him with a grain of salt. Or perhaps an Uzi. (or not an uzi, apparently). ^_^

Although i can neither confirm nor deny future goals, I can say that we really weren't looking at the dollar amount of the total or anything, but were calculating based on expected costs - and as "#Backers@LVL" rose, so did costs, meaning that even at this high end, you'll see a few "should have belonged at the 20k level" type of rewards.

Here's an example:

at 70k, there was a 4 pack of elves. It was a 20k jump to get there. Took a day. We had about 500 backers. if it ended there, we'd have had to make about 500 of them, so we priced it there.

today, we have to make 5,000+ of those elves. so we need each level between then and now to pay for:

1) the new mold

2) the new figures at current # of backers

3) the old figures to fulfill the difference in backers at previous level vs now (and that's not just elves, it's *every* previous figure)

If we had priced the original elf release to pay for "estimated # of backers on day 33", we'd have had to open the shindig with 100k stretch goals, and we'd have never gained the momentum we have now.

TBH, I've noticed a trend in other projects that after $250k, the "default" stretch goal is +10% current, give or take. We stayed below that as long as we could, but after 1 million it became impossible to do it and not lose money - and losing money means not buying the equipment to make these State-Side, and I don't want to sacrifice that. In addiiton, at this many backers, fulfillment is a huge portion fo the 100k we take in.

I'd also like to point out that we're starting to fear "option fatigue". People said they were getting dragon'd out, and we are wondering if 30 different options might be asking for just a bit too much. I'd rather not make you up your pledge one cent than make you feel nickle-and-dimed to death. Does that make sense?

Since it doesn't even have a sculptor yet I don't think anyone can really answer that question with any real authority yet. Based on the price though I'm betting on truly huge!

What Heisler said. It'll be a biggun'. That's about as good as we can do at this moment.

I wanted to respond to this, even though I haven't said I'm "dragoned out", I understand the sentiment. I think (for me) it has more to do with the types of figures than the number of options. Dragons are cool, but they are a big set-piece monster that won't be used all that often, and after you have, say, 2, 3, or 4 of them, do you need a 5th or 6th? They tend to be fairly solitary creatures, so you won't need them all at once either.

The giants tend to be in groups more often, so several of them make sense. Most of the others are 1 version and that's it... there aren't 5 different poses of undead giants or Ice Wyrms or Elementals, and there doesn't need to be.

My point is that I don't think it's general option fatigue, but rather specific "dragon fatigue". Personally, I like some of the add-ons that are themed groups of smaller creatures, like the driders and "Mind Your Manors" better than some of the dragons because they will see more use, they are things I don't have or don't have too many of, and they aren't solitary creatures. And I plan to buy extra sets of things like the dark elves and fishmen as well as a couple dragons rather than buying all the dragons and just sticking with the 1 included set of creatures like that.

But overall, great set of figures. This is the 1st time I've ever backed anything on Kickstarter, and I'd never bought Bones before this, but this was too good a deal to pass up!

So, Girlbreath-the-speculator got his hopes up for something, and Reaper failed to read his mind, but instead followed their business plan. Hm, sounds like exactly this -

Dude, what is your problem? Other than the obvious misogyny - I mean really. Girlbreath? So you're calling me a girl as an insult? I'd feel sorry for your girlfriend if I thought there was any chance you had one.

I haven't done any speculating, beyond thinking that the stretch goals would be staged so that the treasure pile was a million dollars (and I'm not dissappointed or upset that it isn't, it just surprised me - much like I was surprised the pile of bones wasn't a goal afterall). So calling me "Girlbreath-the-speculator" makes about as much sense as calling you "Dr. Wyrm the Polite."

Oh geez, stop yer whingeing, you're getting 170+ figures for $100 at the vampire level.

See, stuff like this is why I *haven't* shut up...because you people aren't actually LISTENING to what I SAID

I'm not suggesting they change it, I'm not upset that I'm getting more miniatures, I'm not even upset that it;s tables and chairs. If it seems like I'm complaining a lot it's because it;s taken several long attempts (none of them seem to have actually been READ) to actually EXPLAIN what I'm upset about.

And Every time someone calls me a crybaby or tells me to stuff it, all it;s saying is that you haven't heard a word I said. i;d like to point out that I;ve also been relatively respectful this whole time, while the monent even a whiff of contrary opinion crops up I'm greeted with jeers and hostility.

This whole thing has snowballed because I dared to express that a handfull of set dressing at the over a million dollar mark just didn't excite me. I got jeered at.

I tried to explain that I wasn;t upset about the models, or about having them, just that after all the buildup it seemed like a let down.

I got more posts telling me to quit crying about free minis...because nobody actually bothered to read what I was saying. I stepped out of line and got branded as the complainer and from then on nobody actually bothered listening to what I was saying...so I had to explain more, and so people just saw it as more whining.

It's amazing how this community can seem so friendly and welcoming and then turn on you in an instant.

Fair enough, we;ve got more than a couple like that on Heresy. And for the record I realized telling him to go @#!& himself was a bit out of line so I did edit that bit out. The fact it was in your post at all shows you spent a lot of time working on this reply and I truly thank you for taking the time to try to address my problem.

Fair enough. This makes perfect sense to me. Obviously the more vampire backers you get (And my how apt that name seems to be now that I think about it), the more minis you have to churn out at close to cost. As the stakes get higher you almost have to give out smaller and smaller rewards simply because you have to produce exponentially more of them.

And likewise, as the rewards get smaller, the options get bigger because a) you still want something cool to unveil to inspire more backers, and b) unless i'm much mistaken, the options are where the real money is here. It's the options that pay for the goodies, really.

It does. And I must say, I'm starting to near that point myself. Some of the options are really cool, and I really want them...but the more I adjust my pledge the more I look at it and think I'm spending an awful lot for minis I may not even use. And that's one reason, I think, why the 1.1 mill unveil got me a little upset.

I saw something nice but 'meh' for the reward and then something huge and awesome and expensive as the option.

It felt like unwrapping the biggest box under the tree to find a month's worth of socks and underwear...and the card attached has a 50% off coupon for the new video game you asked for.

Obviously, understanding the economic realities as I do now, it makes sense and has calmed me greatly. Sometimes mum and dad can't afford to give you everything you want, especially when they have 5000 kids to feed ;-)

Anyway, thank you for taking your valuable time to lay it out for me, and thank you for actually understanding what I was trying to say along. Now if everyone else will kindly @#!& off, I might actually quiet down for a while :P

Maybe it;s meant as a complement? You get so much action you've literally got girl on your breath!

That or maybe he's just a bitter little troll who's not as clever as he thinks.

Picture him hunched over a keyboard wringing his cheeto-stained hands and cackling at his computer screen. "Ha, girlbreath! Epic burn. Take that, random-stranger-on-the-internet-who-doeesn't-greee-with-everything-I-do! Mom, hey mom! This guy on the forum said something I didn't like, so I changed his name to GIRL-breath! Ha! God, I'm brilliant."

Everybody take a deep breath. I don't fully understand why people are getting worked up. Personal attacks are going to get people under the ban hammer.

One of those, "I don't care who started it, but I'm fully prepared to stop it" things. I have six children ten and under, so I know exactly what I'm talking about here.

Now, corners, please. And when the bell rings, come out as friends. Or at least respectful strangers.
