Seriously? I knew GW was too expensive for my tastes back in the late 90s but I had no idea the switch to resin "finecast" was an effort merely to up profits. And especially that they tried to use old molds (designed for pewter I assume) and pass them off as a better product. I am so glad I haven't bought GW minis in years - heck even their current paint line is pretty crappy.

 

Pretty much. They've since retooled and finecasts are now really pretty...but they're still more expensive.

 

That said, their plastic models are still top tier in design and quality, with tons of customization and cool bitz. Still not cheap though.

 

Sadly, 40k is not so substitution-friendly as Fantasy. Any elf is an elf, but onnly a Space Marine can pass for a Space Marine without a lot of funny looks.

And that's why I prefer GW's LotR game to their W40K one--not only is the ruleset infinitely simpler and more balanced, but it's easier to use Reaper minis as characters!

 

Sadly I'm hopelessly addicted to the grimdark.

It'll be close, Mike, but I think we'll just miss it. Hourly pledge data for the last few hours is running around $28K/hour. At that rate, we'll fall just short of another stretch goal before the Kicktraq day ends. Now, if people suddenly get motivated, it could happen.

 

So, based on today cracking $400K (not there yet, but we will be), half a million each of the next two days certainly seems possible, and perhaps even... dare I say it? Pessimistic.
