Kickstarter Discussion Thread

Reaper basically has made my next two Christmases. I hope that there will be extra-special icing on the cake, but that's just me feeling positive about Reaper. I expect they'll surprise us, in a good way, and hope to see them end on a note of awesome, just because this whole thing has made me very happy in a pretty rough month... ok year... and also because it's been nice watching some pros doing what they do and rocking out at it.

SQUEE! That means we'll hit the gnomes/halflings! This is the time when you get the warm fuzzies because the company you trust has just done something on request.

The only downside is that $50 I'm tossing in our poolfor a second Vampire was shoe money for work. I guess that's what overtime is for, right?

It's not a bad thing. It just means that reaper is doing their best to keep up with the costs of making and shipping 2,320,607+ minis, and that's not even accounting for the options that MANY people have UNDOUBTEDLY ordered.

EDIT: When we hit $2.24mil, everyone at vampire and undertaker getting halflings is another 42,172+ minis they have to make.

I don't know how Reaper does what they do, but I love it.

In the event that I don't get to post again here later today or tomorrow I just want to say that this has been an incredible ride and I am so glad to have shared it with all of you that have posted here - and indeed everyone that has contributed to the success of this project. And beyond that, WAY beyond that, I really want to thank everyone at Reaper. I can only imagine the time and effort that has gone into planning, launching, and ultimately executing this whole thing. I've been a huge fan for a long time, and this whole experience has only solidified my opinion of what a fantastic business you have created. Thank you! And as others have said, if I wasn't a thousand miles away I'd gladly volunteer to help pack orders come March.

Now let's get us some half-pints!

At this point, with the amazon payments failure, I'm doubting we'll hit $3mil....

but, as always, I hope to be proven wrong.

For fuel to the fire that we will make it past $3M, Bob's hourly numbers on the last 4 hours over at KS show that we're still ahead of yesterdays total for the same period by $10K, and that accounts for the hit with the payment issues. We should rebound from that easily.

Do none of you sleep anymore? Are your kids all hungry and wearing dirty diapers? Oh who am I fooling? My email notification woke me up when we achieved the giant goal.

I had to creak my arthritic old man fingers on the keyboard to find out what that joke was. Durn kids. Stay off my lawn!

That's what you get for being over 9000. ::P:

Perhaps we could bribe you with . . . tasty candy? Fresh cookies? Green-skinned sexy alien ecdysiasts?

Buffalo Wings is his food kryptonite. You could probably find someone/company to deliver wings to Reaper. Just sayin'

Yeah, when I saw the final estimates myself I was pretty amazed. How reaper is going to afford the moulds for 218+ different sculpts and the raw materials for ~2.4 million minis, even with the kickstarter, is beyond me. Estimated manufacturing costs for bones per miniature would be nice, but like sales data, that information might be jealously guarded.

Ok, I am going to get in on the bones thing I was just waiting it out to see how much more I was going to have to throw in past the $200 I’m added up to a few days ago and I think I’m good to take the jump tonight and pledge.

I know we are donating money and have no real say at what happens after it is collected from us but working at a business that took 10% from us years ago and have yet to get that a raise or a bonus for several years, I wouldn’t mind it if a stretch goal before the end was to fund a bonus to the hard working Denton employees that make this stuff possible.

I went an upped my contribution by using the manage button. Im a little concerned however that both the original nad updated contributions are showing as authorized in Amazaon payments. Do I need to manually withdraw the first authorization? I dont wont to gum anything up....

I feel pretty lucky. I work part time, and have various small sources of income, but aside from a few bills, it's all entertainment budget (and elective cosmetic stuff like hair cuts and pedicures). Every paycheck I get, I whip out the old calculator, and think "how much of this can I throw into the Kickstarter?" It's so worth it. I can't even believe how worth it this is, all those hundreds of figures. Having a collection like this is a lifelong dream, ever since I was a little kid and wanted to collect He-Man but my mom wouldn't let me. I look at the money I've pledged, and think "ok, that's nail polish and some fancy lunches on the town, and maybe a few hours at Yestercade." instead, it's going to be YEARS worth of painting and entertainment. Doing this actually showed me how much frivolous crap I spend money on. I don't need to eat out every day.

I love this Kickstarter. Let's do it again, shall we? Let me know ahead of time, and I'll sock away two months entertainment budget.
