Now what are the contents of the Complete Swords and WIzardry vs. the Core rules of Swords and Wizardry?

Core is the original rules vs Complete, which has the additional classes & rules that were introduced after those rules were put out.

The assassin, paladin, druid are in the Complete. Races, the gnome, half-elf, half-orc are all in there as well.

More or less it's the AD&D (Complete) vs D&D (Core)

Here is the link to what we'll be getting from Reaper.

Great to see S&W thrown into the mix for this one, just too bad I bought the pdf earlier this year, ha ha.

This really is pretty funny.

I started playing D&D in 1978. I lived way the hell and gone out in the middle of nowhere, so gaming materials and accessories were hard to get. The first four years I was a Gamer, all the miniatures I accumulated fit in a small tackle box.

Now, at some point, Reaper is going to send me, literally, HUNDREDS of miniatures, AND the game to use them with.

If this had happened when I was thirteen, I'd have thought Bryan was GOD.

(pause)

Actually, now that I think about it, all it would have taken was a glance into the future. The Doc Bedlam of 1978 would look into the future, and see his middle aged future self typing on a supercomputer, communicating instantaneously with people all over the world, and participating in a crowdsourced project to make miniatures for gaming. And coughing up a hundred bucks, and getting more crap than he could ever have dreamed of shaking a stick at.

Yeah, he would have thought Bryan was GOD.

Right after he said, "Whoa. When did I get all bald and fat and like that?"

Hey everyone, I'll try to answer any questions about Swords & Wizardry here because I don't want to sidetrack the comments feed on the Kickstarter itself, where everything needs to be focused like a laser beam on the minis. As Haldir said, pretty much, although the Complete Swords & Wizardry is still technically the original D&D, just before they came out with Advanced D&D. However, it plays very much like Advanced D&D, with some "WTF is this rule??" moments, both good and also, occasionally, bad. :)

Aside from being the best alternative (IMO) for a very bare-bones fantasy RPG, it happens to be really good for introducing kids how to play the game, which works REALLY well if you happen to have kids, paints, and over 225 unpainted miniatures.

Mythmere: I like your post so much I went and built a whole carefully crafted thread for that very purpose. Do jump in there and share, if you feel the urge.

I joined it! Looking forward to reliving D&D from a past long lived.

My gaming group is going to go BANANAS over this. They've been bugging me to dig out all my old 2nd ed stuff, for nostalgia's sake, and do a short little thing. This manages to be even better, and not for the least reason that I don't have to crawl around in my attic lugging out giant Rubbermaid totes.

So when do you start the PBP?

I wouldn't even begin to know how to DM a PBP, but I'll play if you're offering!

I have a tiny house and about a thousand books. Something's gotta get stashed!

Milk Crates: The happy medium!

In times when you're high on space and low on furnishing a few zip ties is all you need to craft yourself a lovely bookshelf/entertainment center. When you;re flush and furnished, just nip the ties and stack them in the closet. Great for movin as well.

...and a fine fashion statement, too!

Well, you gotta keep it classy. Make sure they;re all the same color, at least...if you can get the same distributor and style as well then you're really looking posh.
