Reaper has done a fantastic job, but I really think they should have done the Cthulhu earlier, like on Friday for it to have the time to build up steam.

Alright, I upped my pledge by 12.5% to $450 to help you guys make the big "C'thuluhu" thing, which looks enough like a mindflayer monster for me to buy it.
Cthulhu's first appearance: http://www.dagonbyte...llofcthulhu.htm

The appearance similarity come from:

Gary Gygax http://www.enworld.o...tml#post1991676

"the mind flayer I made up out of whole cloth using my imagination, but inspired by the cover of Brian Lumley's novel in paperback edition, The Burrowers Beneath."

And D&D writers usually are not shy about pouring more Cthulhu Mythos influence into the Illithid

Judging by the prices I think Nethyrmaul will be the largest by far.
They are close in body size but Cthulhu is is more corpulent and will weigh more. Though Nethermaul might take up more area.

I'm starting to think Nethymaul partially had the $25 price as part of a financial experiment by Reaper to judge how a higher price point will influence sales. Same with the Hydra. hen again, maybe they are expected to be hard / expensive to master, but with Cthulhu and Kaladrax only being $10, I'll be getting a bunch more of them and just one Nethyrmaul..

I'm not sure you can overlay the images like that, since there's no guarantee that they are drawn at the same scale.

also consider that kickstarter probably works on commission and that a LOT of pledges will be made/increased after the kikstarter ends. In that light I don't think it was a mistake to wait with Cthulhu at all.

They were. The knight is the same size in both images.

If I remember correctly, that point was addressed exactly by reaperbryan.

Something about creative talks for Kaladrax and Cthulhu not having begun yet.

The scale model for the Knight was on both Nethermaul and Cthulhu. Some variation should be expected going from concept art to sculpt, but many of the options do have the scale model knight on them.

Oh. thank you. :)

Additionally, if we assume that Kaladrax's assistant is roughly the same size as the knight, we can estimate Kaladrax's size, too.

I'd say guesstimate. She might not be be as tall as the knight, or she might even be a halfling,

But here is a try at a guestimate...

BTW I really like that reaper's new undead dragons are standing as a quadrapeds rather than rearing up trying to be a biped! If they have to put rock spires and piles on every dragon from here on out to accomplish that, that's fine!

From the KS page; "Kaladrax Reborn, Concept Art byTalin! You can see his assistant, Hyrekia in the image, for scale!"

I think we can safely assume that she's about the same size as the knight, if they expressed that she was there for scale, and didn't include the knight in the picture.

So our guesstimate is likely quite accurate.

EDIT: It'd be nice to see an image with nethyrmaul lowered so the knight is next to his base, right next to an image of kaladrax, so we can figure out which dragon is "bigger"

:huh:Please, let me sleep...

Just Kidding! Big-K is a little smaller than N-Bomb, but both should have plenty of yield to nuke the PCs. Think of them as them Fat man and Little Boy of weapons of mass player killing.

Kaladrax looks like he might be able to squeeze onto a 3" round, but will want a 4" round due to wing tips.
