Kickstarter Discussion Thread

I use minis mostly for my dnd games, but the Chronoscope minis are good by me for several reasons. First, I have enough fantasy minis to cover like every scenario. Second, I'm more inclined to include elements of sic-fi like Spelljammer and so on, into my dnd game. Lastly, I like to paint minis and these will definitely keep me from getting bored from painting fantasy minis all the time. It's win-win.

So I see there are going to be Chronoscope bones... Well it seems that Reaper has broken away from the "only DHL" they had labelled the Bones Kickstarter. Does this mean we have a chance to see Warlord bones and dare I say CAV bones?

I do not recall at any point in time labeling the kickstarter as "Only DHL". Given that Chronoscope Bones was designed to be the $500k mark from day one of planning, that would have been rather disingenuous.

I do recall saying "no CAV Bones in this project" and "no Pathfinder/Savage Worlds Bones".

To those that say the project is titled Dark heaven Bones, the project is in fact titled:

Reaper Miniatures Bones: An Evolution Of Gaming Miniatures

Brian might I suggest another Cup of Jo before you make any more responses? ::D:

Sorry for the brusque tone, Mike, but I've seen people say that, and it's just patently untrue. We have never lied to anybody about the contents of this project, and we aren't doing so now. Frankly, I'm bothered by the implication, as we''ve been incredibly honest and open about our planning, our finacing, why the levels are what they are, etc. To suggest that we lied to people up front hurts.

mind you, I'm also baffled at the anti-Chrono crowd's reaction. When they signed up, it was for less than 127 figures - as high as 117, but less than 127. we increased that number, without taking anything away. They get everything they were promised and more. I see it as complaining that the car you just bought also comes with a new bicycle...

<whine>But I wanted a *tri*-cycle!

Also, why isn't my car translucent? You should totally make my car translucent. With a horn. A horn that plays Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries". And has built in dice-rolling cups.

And more trunk space for my CAV collection.</whine>

ReaperBryan won't say "No", but CAV bones are a pretty unlikely proposition. Even setting asside their multipart nature, CAV figs are probably the least likely to be able to sell in the quantities necessary to make a profit.

Still, I'd love to see some!

So I keep lurking around here addictively, checking every hour or so (or more frequently depending upon my whim), to see how this is all going. I've yet to pledge into the Kickstarter as much as I'd like to because trying to organize my funds and who knows, once I would start don't know where I'd end up. Definitely want to do the 100.00 and add on the frost and fire giants, but then again, a dragon or two would be nice, I just don't know where it would end. I already have more than enough miniatures that I could paint in ten productive lifetimes, and I favor older stuff (Ral Partha and Grenadier), but damn Reaper, they make really nice stuff, and at these prices, it's so hard to say no.

I keep kind of looking like this as I look at NPR, in which a few times a year an entire radio station teams up to try to get me to pledge, except in the case of NPR I really am listening for free so aside from not pledging I am typically filled with great guilt and remorse, reinforcing the fact that I'm a bad person, a public radio leech. With this Kickstarter jazz, I've at least removed the guilt factor and now am just worried if I don't pledge I'll later be kicking myself in the head with all the cool stuff I could have got (but don't need). Oh, what to do?

I myself like fantasy miniatures, so the Chronoscope stuff is more like a crazy, cool added bonus that I would probably never buy in lead, but if it was showered upon me I'd love to have some (never say no to free or close to free miniatures). There's no denying that they're cool sculpts!

I think the confusion arises from the logo. The one at the top of every page of the forums in in big letters at the front of the video. It does indeed say "Dark Heaven Bones". I personally am fine with everything on offer, and don't understand the complaining about free stuff (especially one or two cases that bordered on a rant), but instead of being hyper-sensitive, I hope you can take a moment at least to see why some others had the Dark Heaven impression...

Slow breathes, slow breathes... ;)

I'm pretty much in the camp of "everything that gets added after my initial pledge is gravy", so i hope my Chronoscope comment didn't come across as actual criticism. Personally, there's very little you could do at this point to make me unhappy about my investment in this project.

But, as Baphomet69 said, some people might have read more into the "Dark Heaven" text in the Kickstarter logo than was intended. When you open the Kickstarter page, the first thing you're likely to notice is the big video which reads "Dark Heaven Bones". Perhaps you should consider switching the logo for future updates to read "Reaper Bones" instead? Not because I think the logo should obligate you to anything specific, but just for the sake of your blood pressure. :;):

That being said, anybody giving you a hard time or ranting about getting a bunch of free stuff should really step back and take a long hard look at what the heck they're saying, because it comes off pretty self-entitled and disrespectful. I don't think it's representative of how most of us feel.

P.S. Thanks for all the work you've done on this project, Bryan. I appreciate it and I'm certain most others here do too.

Do we know the price point in Bones some of this will hit the game store at when it makes it into production? I really want the giants and dragons - just curious if there is a ball park on what they will cost. I would love to just increase my pledge, but that cannot happen with GenCon right here.
