A few hundred? It gets that bad? I've only been painting for like two years, maybe. Is this what I have to look forward to?

I have 187 WIPs. 50% of these will go to The Table of Defeat, where I admit they're not getting done anytime soon and it's as well to simple green them off. 25% of the remainder will be done within a year. The other 25% have until next year to be promoted to this level, or herded off to TToD.

I have more than 700 lurking about in drawers, and under things (not in underthings . . . not yet), and whatnot.

And . . . say maybe 200 still in blister?

This is, I'll note, after pruning no less than three times and getting rid of at least 150-200 each time. (If you want to know how well that worked, all the sculpts have returned anew - I forgot I'd bought them and gotten rid of them)

Now this is how you do a "shelf" of shame (more like a closet of shame!). I'm in a similar boat with close to 500 unpainted miniatures in totes and boxes (recently I primed and cleaned about 100 of these and have finished painting 30 of those!) along with maybe 50 still in blister packs. Fortunately I am unaffected by shame and will happily buy more miniatures as the mood strikes me!

How long do you have to have unpainted, or half-painted, minis to qualify for a shelf of shame?

Also, how many do you need?

My wee little fledgling mini collection can all easily fit in a disposable pie plate at the moment. Half are painted (which is, oddly enough, about the percentage of my childhood collection of minis that were painted at any one time), another one-third are WIPs, and the rest remain unpainted.

An algebra problem: I have three unpainted minis. How many minis do I have total? ;)

A) Until you start on another one

B) 1.5(?)

C) "another one-third are WIPs" You'd better buy a shelf...

D) 17.87 (?!?)

18. 9 painted, 6 WIP, 3 unpainted. Alternate answer: Not enough. ;)

I've only been painting a few months but i've got about 15 or so unpainted minis hanging out... i open everything after i purchase it and then (if it doesn't get painted immediately) it sits on this one particular shelf, and sometimes if i don't have a specific project going on I grab a coffee and ponder the shelf... eventually something jumps that I can get excited about. Most of the shelf is some 40k minis that i splurged on early on, before I realized i didn't really like war hammer that much
