what are you going to do with your kickstarter Bones?

Recommended Posts

I've never converted a mini before...so nothing crazy.

The initial thought came from the Bones werewolf, because I was in a computer BB league and those werewolves are nightmares! So for starters, I'd probably just remove the weapons (except maybe goblins, or add a chainsaw). Learning green stuff is on my short list, so maybe the weapon removal from an orc would be a good starting point.

Later on I could think about helmets or armor or posing...

Just set them all up on the coffee table and MARVEL at them for a while, to begin with.

I'm going to dive into the box and swim around like Scrooge McDuck in his gold vault. Many of them are going to be NPCs in our ongoing enormous homebrew campaign. We're making up future encounters e

Pretty much decided that if I get a Vampire box with those faulty face moulds that people have pointed out, I can't be bothered reporting the problem to Reaper but am going to save them and paint them

After I've buried most of them
You . . . uh . . . you know that won't grow into Bones trees, right? * imagines a Bones tree * Okay, on the off chance that some of these Bones are enchanted like those beans I bought last year from that weird hermit guy, I think I'll try it anyway.

aaaaand that's where they got the idea for the Cloud Giantess. She was nice enough to pose for that drawing before picking up the original artist and eating him.

I've been thinking about this since I threw down my money for the Vampire level. I want to run a game that goes through the entire set. I want to use all of the miniatures that I purchased through the Kickstarter and It'll take a bit of planning to figure out, but I have months before I get the figs. There's such a wide range of product lines that I may wind up pulling together my own setting to make it work. It's a little crazy, but I think I could have some fun with it.

Ironically I was doing this while the KS was still going on. I managed to finish the outline for an entire campaign based largely on what's comming in March, lol.

  • 2 weeks later...

I've just looked at these, after locking in my pledge and am thinking of using a few to make my own "gelatinous cubes" using melt and pour soup (the clear stuff). The perfect present for fellow geeks. A gelatinous cube which you can use in the shower and on the table... and get a bonus mini after, lol.

I'll have to test it to see if the paint survives the soap.

Definitely interested in how to do this! (:

Could only find this gelatenous cube model: http://www.papercraftdungeon.com/index.php/table-top-game-accessories/paper-miniatures/gelatinous-cube-papercraft-model.html#

Take one square mold: 2inches x 2 inches approx

Get clear melt and pour soap (from craft shops etc)

Take one (or more) minis. Pour some soap (melted) in the bottom of mold. Allow to partially set. Place mini in (feet/head in the partially set stuff to hold it in place). Pour rest of soap in carefully. Allow to fully dry

If wanting to use for table top purposes, clear varnish.

If wanting to use as soap, dont varnish.

If want to recover mini from varnished soap carefully cut off varnished layer, melt soap, pull mini out (and reuse soap, but probably at this stage not for soap...)

Going to give away a few Clockwork Dragons, Kaladraxes and Cthulhus to RL friends. Base and paint the rest as time allows.

(Stops browsing, stunned)

. . . . I thought I went a bit over the top doubling up Nethyrmaul and Kaladrax. Nine Cthulhu's!

Amazement aside, it's a nice thought. There'll be some appreciative gamers when birthdays and Christmas come around. Some of my bones will be going to friends and family as well - Although they're going to be painted first.

Sometimes you frighten me, Bugs. You really do... I can only wonder at the maze that is your mind...

:poke:

You're not the first to say that. Some years back when I was dating a quite smashing young lady, she asked me how on earth I came up with things. I thought about that for a few minutes, trying to figure out how to explain it in an understandable way.

And presently I said:

Imagine inside my head is a small room. There's three gnomes. One blue, one red, and one green. Along one wall is a giant steel round plug, with a spoked wheel on the outside. When information is processed in the form of stimuli, by which I mean you say something to me that warrants a response, the Blue Gnome spins the wheel, opens the lock, and reveals a swirling galactic vortex. He reaches in, and pulls something out. This he hands to the Green Gnome.

The Green Gnome appraises the retrieved thing, makes notations as to its relevance and association with other previously known things, marks it good, and hands it off the the Red Gnome.

The Red Gnome makes a final check of the information, adds any additional notes, and then sends it down the priority chute to my mouth - where it emerges in the form of sound waves your ears can process, or to the hands to form words on the page for eyes to read.

This process happens in milliseconds, because they are very efficient workers. So, you see, that is how my mind works.

Her: "So what are the mind gnomes doing now?"

Me: "Listening to Cyndi Lauper, of course. What else would mind gnomes do?"

And now you know, too. And someday, if you're a good demon lord, I'd tell you the tale of the Rock N' Roll Superfunky Technicolour Spidermonkey.

Previews for Reaper's June releases just went up in the "Previews" section, and they're from the Bones 5 Kickstarter.  Granted, there's still April and May unaccounted for, but there are a number of large models from the Bones 4 Kickstarter that haven't been released at retail yet.  We already know they're suggesting that the Stygian Barge may never be released, but I'm hoping most of the rest will be.  By my count, all of these haven't hit the game stores yet:

      Narglauth
      Dragon Turtle
      Agramon, Duke of Hell
      Blacksting Wyvern
      All of the Fantasy Scenics
      Thunderfoot Behemoth
      Blacktooth Terror
      Dance of Death
      Mossbeard Treeman
      Skeletal Dragon
      Nyarlathotep
      Argent
      Gauth

Am I missing anything?  Any word from Reaper about whether or not these will ever be available againt, outside of the Bones 4 Kickstarter?

I was a little surprised to not see this already here.  I just got a 48 hour notification on a game called "Lurkers of the Deep" - it's apparently an expansion to a miniatures game, but in addition to the game they're also selling a bunch of 20s/30s pulp/cthulhu style minis.  (And a number of buildings, too.)  I'm not interested in the game, but I put down a 30 pound pledge to get a bunch of the figures and get the various free stretch goals figures.

There's only another 46 or so hours left, so I guess that means it ends early on March 1st.
