Just set them all up on the coffee table and MARVEL at them for a while, to begin with.

I'm going to dive into the box and swim around like Scrooge McDuck in his gold vault. Many of them are going to be NPCs in our ongoing enormous homebrew campaign. We're making up future encounters e

Pretty much decided that if I get a Vampire box with those faulty face moulds that people have pointed out, I can't be bothered reporting the problem to Reaper but am going to save them and paint them

Right now, in the meantime, I am working on making my own Bones Board Game using the Mage Knight mechanics. I have a graphic for the backs of the cards all done up and need to find some other artwork for the rest.

Working on a 60 card common Action Card deck all players draw from. Have about three more Blue cards to figure out. Removed the Action Card Offer.

Working on stats for all the "bad guy" minis I am getting, with a few more thrown in. Have a preliminary "Defense" value for each "bad guy" mini.

I think working on the Spells will be the next easiest thing to do. Keeping the Spell Offer. The "Unit Offer" will be after spells.

Finally, character stats for some heroes is needed. That will be last as it will be the hardest.

Since I love Mage Knight in Solo Mode, this will be geared toward solo play and people who got the Vampire pledge level.

Expect more to come!

I believe the BONES line is made from a vinyl based plastic which wouldn't be recyclable. The eBay option will be a good one eventually, but the market could be flooded in march with those particular minis. I do think the idea of someone throwing them away is humorous though, hope he wasn't serious. Until then the trade thread fills.

Should be SPI code 3. Most vinyl plastics, with the exception of old records falls into that class. If nothing else, most municipal recycling streams have an "all other" plastics category now which takes unknown plastics and uses them to create composite materials like Trex Decking.

As far as my plans - about the same as they are for all my metals...granted, I fully intend to get more use out of the plastic dragons.

ced1106,

Song of Blades and Heroes will cover every miniature in KS.

It comes with premade profiles that cover most of the miniatures in the KS. However, the real advantage of SBH is that they have a free online Warband creator that allows you to stat up and point cost any fantasy miniature you can think of based on stats and special rules (attributes).

http://www.ganeshaga...php?pages_id=17

SBH includes special rules that cover the attributes of most any fantasy charachters, but one of the main reasons to also buy the supplements is that they contain additional special rules to give more charachter variation to your warband.

Hit the link in my sig for lots of SBH battle reports.

Loved your bat reps and definitely picking up the rules set!

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed them and I hope you feel the same about the rules. Feel free to hit me with any SBH questions you might have. I'm something of a fanatic for it!

I will be using most of them to play Warlord, and get some friends involved in the game as well. Painting will take a while, but now that I'm back into it I look forward to the relaxation and satisfaction.

I also plan on getting involved with the dungeon crawl/swords and wizardry type of gaming, just to mix it up a bit.

As far as the Chronoscope and sci-fi minis go, I also play Necromunda - those minis will be incredible subs for all sorts of fun.

I have use for pretty much everything that has come with the Vampire pledge, and of course I will be investing in add-ons as well to fill out the models needed.

Also, I should mention that this will not stop me from purchasing metal, this just helped me get into the gaming much faster...thanks REAPER!

Just a word of warning: SOBH uses a "blow your roll and lose your turn" mechanic. Many people find it thrilling. Personally I find it overturn-the-table infuriating. Given my usual run with crucial dice rolls, I find it less emotionally painful to simply concede the game immediately after set-up, rather than submit to an entire game of move OR attack on one hand, or blow rolls repeatedly and just watch my guys get minced (while I actually, physically, weep tears of bitter, impotent rage) on the other.

That said, having meditated on it for over a year, I think I could now in good conscience claim to play a game of SOBH without embarrassing myself.

I include this warning for your consideration if, and only if, you can't deal rationally with mechanics that could leave you twiddling your thumbs for a full turn or more. Of course, the point of SOBH is to manage that risk properly. That's the mantra that would allow me to play; remembering that troop selection, special abilities, and so on, must be based on avoiding a turn-ending "whiff" roll. And I add again that it seems that 90% of gamers who try the game love it. Just... not me.

Yeah, I think SOBH should have added some flavor text for the level of risk you're taking. The rulebook mechanics give you the option of rolling one, two, or three dice, with the more dice you roll, the more likely you'll have more actions, but the more likely you will roll failures and end your turn. To me, that sound like "push your luck", not combat. The rulebook *should* have coached these options as "cautious, average, and risky". Same mechanics, better "flavor text", IMO. I think it's a great alternative to the "you move, I move" mechanics of pretty much EVERY skirmish game I've seen! SOBH is also dirt cheap, and each game lasts around 45 minutes. You can play a game from the free Preview.

"The Game with No Name" also has some interesting activation mechanics, but is a western-themed game. It might work with the Chrononauts figures. Basically, the better your fighter, the increased probability they will have an activation. But you don't know which figure will actually activate next!

In SBH's defense, you do always have the option to roll only one die. In that situation a failed activation doesn't lose you your turn, though it's true that a few failed activations can result in poor quality models being left behind at the table edge while the better units charge ahead.

Interestingly, SBH upcoming update (reason #25 to get SBH, all updates are free!) is -IIRC-, is going to include a rule that allows a mini to move once in lieu of activation as long as the unit is a "Long" from the enemy. A nice way to keep those poor quality models in the area of action.

It's a rule that we had a chance to try out when my group was playtesting a different Ganesha game based on the same SBH rules engine. It proved useful, but the game still requires careful use of activation.

For me, that would be a game fixer. It'd still fall into "not my favourite flavour of ice-cream", but at least it allows you tactical movement outside of the risk mechanic. The previous system, to my way of assessing risk, did not allow you to use tactics to set-up riskier but higher payoff manoeuvres. "So the goblins need to move, eh? DARE YOU TAKE THAT RISK?" is just not a thrilling question for me. Making a daring sprint for the flank? Sure, that's worth rolling dice for!

Previews for Reaper's June releases just went up in the "Previews" section, and they're from the Bones 5 Kickstarter.  Granted, there's still April and May unaccounted for, but there are a number of large models from the Bones 4 Kickstarter that haven't been released at retail yet.  We already know they're suggesting that the Stygian Barge may never be released, but I'm hoping most of the rest will be.  By my count, all of these haven't hit the game stores yet:

      Narglauth
      Dragon Turtle
      Agramon, Duke of Hell
      Blacksting Wyvern
      All of the Fantasy Scenics
      Thunderfoot Behemoth
      Blacktooth Terror
      Dance of Death
      Mossbeard Treeman
      Skeletal Dragon
      Nyarlathotep
      Argent
      Gauth

Am I missing anything?  Any word from Reaper about whether or not these will ever be available againt, outside of the Bones 4 Kickstarter?

I was a little surprised to not see this already here.  I just got a 48 hour notification on a game called "Lurkers of the Deep" - it's apparently an expansion to a miniatures game, but in addition to the game they're also selling a bunch of 20s/30s pulp/cthulhu style minis.  (And a number of buildings, too.)  I'm not interested in the game, but I put down a 30 pound pledge to get a bunch of the figures and get the various free stretch goals figures.

There's only another 46 or so hours left, so I guess that means it ends early on March 1st.

I have me a bit of a dubious, largely because I'm not certain these will, in fact, work for anybody. But. Still.. the concept is pretty damn cool.

"Tilt Five is a whole new way to play games, in Augmented Reality (AR), with freaking holograms!
When you slip on the Tilt Five glasses and look at the game board, a vibrant 3D world opens up to you.  Suddenly chasms seem to drop infinitely into your table, and game characters and monsters spring up from the game board.  This is gaming unlike anything you've experienced before.
"When we started designing the Tilt Five system our focus wasn't on the technology for technology's sake.  We wanted to provide an amazing gaming experience that blends the things you love about video games and board games. And we wanted it to be just as fun when playing solo, together with your friends, or even when you're apart."  Jeri Ellsworth, Co-Founder & CEO "

Be interesting to see if this lives up to itself.
