Thes Hunter
So, are you a Vampire+ backer and are now looking at an influx of 200+ minis into your collection this coming March? Have people already accused you of being a miniature hoarder? Well, here is the space for you to post your own personal plan on how you are going to paint your way through your already extensive unpainted miniature collection, and your progress photos as you complete your goals. I for one would like to reduce the volume of what I have stored in this box by 1/2. (Unfortunately, I have way more unpackaged minis than what is shown here, but that is besides the point.) It is also unfortunate that I have to decide if my project to paint all of the minis that came in my original Descent game should also count towards this goal, cause if it does, I better get those brushes moving. So guys, let's see what unpainted collections you want to work through, and the progress you make on your goals!
buglips*the*goblin
I hide mine away in drawers like a dirty secret. As far as anybody knows, I never own more than 5 unpainted. For my part, I ignore the mass of metal until it's time for a new project. This does have one ill side effect: I forget what I have. I once discovered, to my amazement, that I had somehow accumulated a baker's dozen of 02006: Sidrith, Sword Sister. Cool mini, and I guess every time I made an order, just about, I tossed her on the list because I didn't remember I already had her. I don't even know what lurks in those drawers.
Michael-TLH
I just moved my miniatures from the garage where they had been languishing for the last six years or so upstairs into my office, where I've set up a new paint studio. The Kickstarter has really reinvigorated my desire to get back to painting again. That said, I found at least 1000+ mini's unpainted in random boxes, bags, Tupperware containers and egg cartons. The good news is that gives me PUH-LENTY of practice minis while I wait for my Bones and I'm going to have a fun time sorting and priming and painting.
DavFlamerock
This summer has actually been amazing for me; rarely do I have both enough time and enough inspiration to sit through painting dozens and dozens of models, and yet this summer has seen me go through painting my elves, Uruk-Hai, and attack some of my heroes. All that's left of my LotR collection that still needs to be painted is a Gondor army and a few more heroes (a couple Legolas and Gimli models are conspicuous, for example). And then just about all of my cavalry needs to be painted, but I hate painting horses ;_; I keep most of my unpainted minis out on my desk so that I'm forced to look at them every day. The idea is that it will motivate me to burn through painting them, and I've only had partial success with that... but if I can get a chance to paint a few soldiers every couple days, I suppose I could get through them pretty quickly. The real question will be: can I get them all painted before I get my Reaper shipment in March????
"That Guy"
What? People hide their unpainted minis? I proudly display a good portion of mine for all to see. In fact, I had to get more shelves to display the few hundred or so I've collected over the past couple of years. I picked up another display shelf unit last week to display my bones when they come in.
buglips*the*goblin
It's a denial thing for me. Problem? I don't have a problem. Don't know whatchoo talkin bout, Willis. As you can plainly see (casually blocks drawers with chair) I have a mere, puny, trifling 45 miniatures. 40 of which, I might add, are fully painted. What's that? What's in the drawers behind me? Oh, nothing. Nothing at all. Certainly not a 4-digit number of other miniatures.
Thes Hunter
I think as part of your therapy Buglips, you need to come clean. And post picts of these drawers full of unpainted minis. ;-) And everyone else for that matter. :)
Wizard Lee
Since becoming more of a miniature painter, my backlog has slowly been growing. About early to middle part of this year, I purchased a lot of unpainted Battletech minis at a local auction and that started the backup. With the advent of Reaper Bones, I began branching out into fantasy figs and back in Feb., I began painting Dark Sword AGoT minis. And then the guys at the hobby shop got me into 15mm historicals... Long story short, I have a backlog. Currently I'm working on an Old Glory 15s Later Seleucid army and I've only finished one group of pikes out of it. I've got a Bones Minotaur, Bugbear, and Rats in my box along with the Bones Skeletons and Zombies to teach my wife how to paint figs with. And then I've got a bunch of Reapers tucked away for a small diorama I'm going to attempt. So...I'm joining the ranks of the true miniature painters. But you know what they say: When you run out of minis to paint, you die. May we all live forever!
Lastman
Certainly not a 4-digit number of other miniatures. Is the floor creaking beneath your storage area?

buglips*the*goblin
Certainly not a 4-digit number of other miniatures. Is the floor creaking beneath your storage area? No, actually. I took the opportunity when it was being replaced to have it reinforced. You could park a car on it now.
Arachne
I have, embarrassingly only about a dozen unpainteds. I know, I know, I barely deserve to be on these forums. I've been painting what I got fanatically. Tonight, for example, my D&D crew came over, but we were so woefully unmotivated, we just grabbed the books and leveled our characters to 30, just to see. While this was happening, I dragged a handful of paints and brushes into the living room, and began painting one of my friend's characters. I do it when the TV is on, when I feel like listening to an audio book, when I feel like getting away from the family...and now, when I have company, it seems. Guys. I'm going to run out of Minis before the kickstarter stuff gets here. Probably even before Sophie.
Thes Hunter
Arachne, I think I need to stop worrying so much about getting paint on the carpet, and bring some of the painting out of the back room and into the living room. :) That would give me more 'time' to get more things done. Arachne
Arachne, I think I need to stop worrying so much about getting paint on the carpet, and bring some of the painting out of the back room and into the living room. :) That would give me more 'time' to get more things done. I have painted in every room in my house, except the bathroom (though, when the Bones come, who knows?) and I haven't spilled a drop, anywhere. I use half a sheet of newspaper, or a large sheet of newsprint under my temporary work spaces, along with two layers of paper towels for blotting the brushes, and everything stays clean. My only issue with "taking it on the road" is sketchy lighting. Tonight, I was relying on my stupid desklamp. I know I'm going to have a huge chuckle when I take Trigger here back up to the properly lit table, and see all the misplaced highlights and shadows.
