Thes Hunter
The one thing that never ceases to amaze me and my co-habitants, is my ability to stain, destroy, drop, nick, befoul, or otherwise soil a perfectly nice area. So I might send myself back to kindergarten so I may learn to paint neatly enough to allow myself in the living room. Maybe then I'll be able to color inside the lines as well!
Arachne
Big sheets of newspaper! Huge dropcloths! A smock! Plastic sheeting on the furniture, haha.
chaosscorpion
I used to paint in a TV tray table in the living room. I'd have half a dozen figs going at a time. Oh the days of being single. I don't think this would fly with the wife in the least. I need to get my current WIP's done. (my wife's office and the main bathroom) Then I could start my game room and get my paint station set up permanently.
Shakandara
I'll continue to send them off, 10-20 at a time, to the commission artists I work with. If I didn't, they'd never get painted. What I'm actually more concerned about is the database I keep on my collection. I'm pretty sure I didn't update it post-ReaperCon, so there are probably 200-ish figures that are not accounted for. Then I should get to work on adding all the new Bones ones to it too. ~v
Moderator Froggy the Great Posted August 22, 2012 Moderator Share Posted August 22, 2012 Unfortunately, I find myself in a position where I cannot participate in the kickstarter. However, it's fun to watch those who are. ...and I have a very small shelf of shame.
Moderator TaleSpinner Posted August 22, 2012 Moderator Share Posted August 22, 2012 My backlog of unpainted minis is marked by era. Buglips would break into a cold sweat if he could see the boxes of old unpainted Parthas and Genadiers I have, still in mint condition that I had picked up in '96 when a local game store went belly up. That's not to mention the hordes of new Reapers I've bought since then and the Reptus army I got for Christmas last year. All are still quite shiny. But, I have a new master now. The paint no longer holds sway. The new master is green and pliable and likes it when I form it into pretty shapes. Shapes which can then be made into more metal that I will not have time to paint. Thes Hunter
But you know what they say: When you run out of minis to paint, you die. May we all live forever! Looks like I'm becoming a liche then. Nothing on the level of buglips... but how many tavern keepers do you need?
ObsidianCrane
I have around a hundred minis on my workstation at the moment. (No you may not bring up the minis hiding in the shed, they are my life insurance policy...) Plan: Paint furiously until November when Red Box Games KS arrives. Paint RBG minis furiously until Sedition Wars package 1 arrives. Go on holiday and get nothing painted. Return and paint furiously until Sedition Wars package 2 and Reaper Bones package arrive. Continue painting furiously for the rest of 2013... With this plan I might have some 400 odd miniatures painted in the next 12 months...reality is it will not work that well, especially with the Reaper Dragons that will have to sit in boxes because I will not be able to bring myself to speed paint such lovely creatures. :)
Thes Hunter
Sounds awesome Obsidian, I wanna see picts of your progress!
buglips*the*goblin
but how many tavern keepers do you need? At least two, in case Derek the Red and Miklas the Blonde get into an ale price war and decide to settle it in the streets by the town well. I made 50 gp betting on Derek, he had the right amount of surly.
dwarvenranger
My plan is to cast Invisible Servant and just sit back and criticize. Then, inevitably disapointed by the efforts of my servant, as all BBEG are, I'll say "fine if you want it done right you got to do it yourself" and "good help is hard to find", dismiss my Invisible Servant and begin the life-long process of painting the boxes of minis. ZabbyMonky
I have a Malifaux battlefoam case packed full of minis that are primed and waiting for paint. It barely compares to everyone else's collections, but I just started painting and collecting for about three months so give a girl a break. ;) I painted a few kobolds, orcs, and a wizard in February, but then life became a chaotic and painting needed to be put on hold. Knowing that I'll be drowning in new Bones miniatures next year definitely has me motivated to paint again. Currently I'm painting a Darkreach Warlords dark elf glaive thrower as a D&D Genasi monk and then I'll start working on the rest of the case. jbarron2006
I have learned and become a better painter by painting alot of mini's so some advice for all you painters out there keep painting it only makes you a better painter. I've gotten to the point were I am a multiple award winner for painted mini's. Keep on painting!!!
Thes Hunter
As jBarron said, the more you paint the better you get, so I might actually be sorta decent by the time I get through the pre-Bones painting extravaganza! And I wanna see picts of people's dwindling (or not so dwindling) unpainted collections, as well as any you paint up during the process (especially if they are Reaper... being this is the Reaper forum). It's kinda like a support group for miniature weight loss... Though based on the peice not the weight of the miniatures.
Adrift
Ironically, I painted through every last miniature on my wall of shame early this year. At the start of the kickstarter I had 58 unpainted miniatures accumulated in the past year or less. To prepare for the influx of minis, I'm committed to painting all 58 of these figures. In the past 2 weeks, I painted 6 miniatures so I have 52 of 58 left to paint.
