Upgrading orders *after* Saturday...

Recommended Posts

There's a chance I may not see whatever add-ons get added on Saturday.

If that happens, is it possible to adjust the $$$ amount after the official close, perhaps by PayPal, to account for "dang, I wanted that"?

YUP! The recently announced "Reaper Pledge Manager' (not released yet - it comes out Saturday I'd assume after the KS drive is over) will allow you to make last minute adjustments to your pledge. It will also allow you to trade Sophie on a motorcycle for other stuff!! (they used Sophie as an example and this is the only thing you can change a ReaperByran just pointed out in the big KS thread (page 189 or so)). Check out post #40 on the KS page(and the video) http://www.kickstart...aming-min/posts

Its a great time to be a miniature enthusiast!

I watched the FAQ video, and read the comments under it. It wasn't clear whether or not you could add more $$ to the pledge -- just switch around what you wanted and trade a Sophie for $25 of other stuff. The comment in the video was more about "you should pledge now to unlock more stuff" rather than "you *have* to give us your final tally now".

To clarify, I'm already well into the $$$ range, so adding maybe $$ wouldn't affect the overall total much at this stage.

You will be able to use the PM to add to your pledge. We designed it to account for math errors, but it will have the side effect of allowing, for roughly 30 days, all users to add to their pledged amount.

moneys raised via the PM will not be able to unlock goals, as the drive will be over, but they will enable us to make more things for you as an individual.

We encourage you to pledge what you are able to now, to help the community unlock rewards, but understand if the PM must be used due to timing of finances.

Thank you for the confirmation. Given a couple other project I want to pledge more than I can afford right now so this rocks - as do you all at Repear, clearly! It's rather cool watching the steamroller that is the current KS pledges that just keeps rolling on!

I need to set expectations. This will not be released to the public on Saturday.

Timeline:

Campaign closes.

We breathe for a day or so.

We email you a survey so you can verify your shipping address and email (go ahead and whitelist [email protected] now)

We load your pledge data from Kickstarter into our system.

THEN we email you a link so you can go in and manage the fiddly bits.

Am I giving you a date? No. But it'll be as soon as I can get it live and bug-free.

Adding stuff is a cool idea (and good for the bottom line), but it seems to take some of the urgency off the drive ;P . Love love love the 25% discount!

Having a few extra $K floating around makes things nice, you can't fool me with the claim of "we have to give 4 free minis to 5000 people." lol. Floating around money allows you guys to give an nice ex post facto discount, that also saves you shipping! Win Win!

Love it!

There's also the math error side that necessitated the invention to begin with. If somebody miscalculates, we need them to be able to correct it.

Once that's in place, it's not possible to prevent them from using it to add more stuff, because we don't know if they found $30 worth of errors, or are just adding money because they got another paycheck between now and then.

We do encourage everyone to go in for what they ca, be it $1 or $1,000, as doing so benefits the entire community of backers, and not just themselves.

Re: 4 minis to (what is over7,300 people) is still 292,000 miniatures. That's hardly free. We do need some bread to cover it. I'm sorry you think that very nearly 300,000 miniatures is negligible, but as the manufacturer, it isn't. It's a rather big logistic problem and material invenstment, not to mention labor expense.

As someone trying to juggle affording what I'd like to get in the KS this month is fantastic news indeed! It's great that Reaper are going to allow us to add to the amount to be able to afford more that is on offer. I assume that just as the additional funds added after the event won't unlock new extras, the currently displayed deals on the KS page will all still be available for the same cost through the PM.

I'm assuming that whilst you are giving no set date that the PM will be released before orders start being fulfilled (far as I can tell this would only apply to Sophies (and possibly the game cases) since they are the only models shipping early).

Paint ships in Sept as well.

Good thing too, paint & Sophie are going to save a lot of people's (in my case already limited) sanity waiting for the product to be done. But really, talk about worth the wait. This Kickstarter thing has been a WONDERFUL way to do business. Reaper gets to start a new line without going in for a business loan that they'd have to pay interest on, which saves them money. Which they are clearly passing on to the consumers with hugely cost efficient deals. It also allows via add ons a way to find out which of the bigger/more expensive to produce minis are going to be popular. A much better way than randomly trying to guess if everyone will like the Jabberwock better than the Red Pathfinder dragon etc.

30 days? Oh I hope that's true...Sophie harem, here I come! And what's this discount papercut's on about?

And not to bust your chops Bryan, but you've got an extra zero on there. Either way, 7,400 orders is a crapton, an insubstantial amount of labor...especially since each 4-pack is going to have to be sorted, packaged, and stuffed in the appropriate boxes. Whether it's 30,000 figures or 30,000,000, the logistics are going to be a nightmare and the point still holds.

"You take your game seriously. Now it's time for a serious screen.
In October of 2018, Dog Might released the first fully sculpted GM Screen, the Valhalla Screen. Since then, we have released over 30 more designs, including officially licensed screens for: Pathfinder, Call of Cthulhu, and Vampire: The Masquerade. We have also designed screens for you favorite shows, such as Relics and Rarities and the Critical Role stream of Undeadwood. Over the last year and a half, our Valhalla Screens have proven to be our most sought after product. "

... Would it surprise anybody here to know I want one?
If I can't have one, at least I can spread the word. ;p

So I just got a metric ton o' plastic.  Tanks, CAVs, tons of scenery!  So DAMN excited.

      But...

There's a lot.  Any of y'all with game experience want to enlighten me on what would be a fun few models to start with, so I could get a game going soon-ish?  Like, would you build all four of a CAV (just in case you didn't back this one: you get four of each model in your order) or four different CAVs?  When would you ever field four at a time?

I'll probably build all four vehicles of each type because they'll build fast and look really cool.  The CAVs will take more time to paint, so any advice on which ones I should build first to get a fun, casual game on would be most appreciated!

Imagine my surprise when on of my failed KS projects got this update, and I got a link to download the pdf!

Here is an update from Andrew Shields.
I want you to have this game. I acquired the rights to the Axes and Anvils game from Mike Nystul without taking on his obligations from this Kickstarter.
      What can you expect?
The chart shows how I plan to give you this fantastic game as thanks for your enthusiasm, even if it was over seven years ago. I do not have the resources to send out print copies (much less patches, miniatures, stones, and other extras.)
I did not have funds from this Kickstarter or from him for development, and in the end I did not have a publisher (though we've been through two over the years.) I cannot give you what this Kickstarter promised, but I will try to make things right as best I can.
I am approximating here, rather than inviting specific corrections or cross-walks between add-on rewards and my future plans. If you want to discuss the gifts I am offering, I'm available to do so, but if you want to talk about what the Kickstarter owes you, that is beyond my scope.
How will you get your digital gifts?
I will use your emails as recorded in Kickstarter to send complimentary copies through DriveThruRPG's system so you can add them to your libraries there. If you do not get an email and think you were supposed to, contact me. [[email protected]] I get a confirmation email from DriveThruRPG with codes for each email address, and I can give you your codes. (Give it a day or so, I'll be sending the emails right after I post this.)
How does the "Shields Up! Axes and Anvils" compare to the "Castle Nystul Axes and Anvils"?
My version of the game is not exactly the same as what Mike Nystul would have made. However, I used the pitch on the Kickstarter as my guiding inspiration as I developed the game.
The creative contributions of the faction-level backers are included in the finished result, credited in the book. I plan to continue development of Axes and Anvils resources that will include some greater detail from the contributions they have already made.
I used a professional graphic designer, art by David Okum (who designed the seals for the dwarven overclans and other factions in consultation with the high-level backers), other purchased art (by Marcin and a map by Vandel), and my own art (for the GM book). I do not have the art by Jeff Laubenstein, as he did not grant me permission to use it.
Where can I find out more?
You can find the Axes and Anvils game products on DriveThruRPG.com {sales link removed] . You can find links to the products and descriptions on the Axes and Anvils blog here.
The quickstart has an introductory adventure, and it is "pay what you want" so you can access it for free.  I do not anticipate making a hardback copy of the rules at this time. "Under the Mountain" is the GM book that is attached to the main rulebook as a second half, and it is nearly ready to share (in the final round of adjustments with the graphic designer; it's laid out already).  The Clan Book is built out and is with the graphic designer now.  As digital files are ready, I will share them as reflected in this chart.
      What Delays Remain?
The print version of the rulebook and the quickstart have proofs in the mail to me now. The rulebook was out, but I changed the link when I bought a domain for the official website, so the print version is offline until I get the new print. The quickstart proof is also in the mail to me.
As the work neared completion I was attempting to get everything together and finished to triumphantly release all at once, but the process of delays and revisions can be disruptive. The GM book and the clan book are going through the final stages, print will be available for everything but the character packs, and the suite of Axes and Anvils game rules and supplements will be available.
How can people support Shields Up! Publishing and Axes and Anvils?
If you want to express your support financially, I invite you to buy any of the print products to go along with your digital copies.
Also, you can go to the quickstart (which is "pay what you want") and contribute in that way.
      What comes next?
I currently have plans for a number of Axes and Anvils resources, including a book on adventuring in Stoneshadow (the default setting). Updates will be shared on the Axes and Anvils blog. I will also be writing fiction for Axes and Anvils, integrating stories into my Patreon offerings.
Axes and Anvils is poised to grow. The format is designed to encourage casual gamers and open tables, and the creative options reward experienced players too. People can try out the quickstart for free. The game's basic rules are inexpensive, and for all the products, if you buy the paper copy you get the .pdf for free.
      Thank you.
Thank you for your faith in a game that places more emphasis on "we" than "me." In the coming year I will be running an open table online, and I will invite you to come and try the game out if you have interest and availability.
Now you will have what you need to make your own legends in the world of Axes and Anvils.

So many thanks to Andrew Shields who took this on after the original project creator failed, may it be successful for him
