nytflyr
I'm putting some feelers out to see what kind of interest there would be in a game centric convention in Tulsa, OK. We have 2(?) predominate cons as it stands now. one is Tokyo in Tulsa, and the other is Conestoga (and this year's was put on hold). In both cases the gaming was a bit on the anemic side. No dates have been set yet, but I'm leaning towards fall of next year to make sure there is plenty of time to get things rolling. I would like to see RPGs, board games and miniatures represented, as the Game Stores in the area have the market cornered on CCGs. Thoughts, concerns, questions? Thank you for your time http://www.warfaire.org
racingcow
That sounds awesome! I am from the OKC area, and I'd go.
wildbill
Assuming I am not otherwise preoccupied, I'm in and I'll do my best to drag the rest of my gaming buddies along for the ride too.
Stubbdog
Like WB, if I am not already booked with something else, I would make the drive for a warlord tourney.
Shogan
I live in Texas now but I've already started spreading the word to a ton of my geeky buddies back in Tulsa. I'd be tempted to even make the trip back for this. :) Good luck!

Stubbdog
I will force WB or WW to let me crash at their place...
Heisler
I think the only thing you really need to be concerned about is what other event might draw people away from you. What kind of numbers could you expect to get in that area? Even putting on a small con is a lot of work so make sure you have some people you can depend on to help you out. If you have questions let me know, I have a lot of convention organizing experience, I ran the Denver conventions for years (and its taken a long time to extract myself from some of those inner workings). wildbill
I will force WB or WW to let me crash at their place... I'm sure something could be arranged between the two of us. If nytflyr picks the weekend correctly, there will most likely not be much going on in Oklahoma to interfere. There are a couple of regional cons that are within fairly easy driving distance, but nytflyr, his wife, myself and Warwick are about the only Tulsans to regularly attend those. I'm sure that he will be able to count on Warwick and myself (plus his regular gaming buds) to help out where we can. We don't have anything remotely resembling a gaming con in Tulsa, and it would sure be nice to have something! Oklahoma City has SoonerCon in June, and it is ok for gaming. But, it tends to be very heavily weighted towards rpg's (I think ).
nytflyr
bad news and potentially good news the bad news first, because of my wife's cancer that has come out of remission, warfaire, at the very best has been put on hold, as I cant guarantee I will be able to devote the time or resources necessary to get a game convention together and do it correctly, no matter how much help I have, as ultimately all responsibility would fall into my lap now the good news.... I wasn't the only one to have this idea, apparently someone is working on a comic and gaming convention in Tulsa for October of next year. The first volunteer meeting is the first Sat of next month, so I will go in, hear them out and go from there. http://comicsandgaming.com/ Edited December 20, 2012 by nytflyr
wildbill
Not sure if I can make it to that meeting or not, but it will definitely be nice to have a real con here in Tulsa! I'm definitely going to have to put it on my calendar. And for once I'll be able to sleep in my own bed during a con!
