OK - Hands up those who couldn't wait

I haven't bought any Bones yet ... but the Kickstarter did awaken something in me that had been long quiet, and besides pledging some $500 to the KS, I pulled out my paints after a dozen year hiatus (and two moves) went through them all (only lost 4), ordered new brushes and supplies, and setup a table upstairs. I also bought the Learn-to-Paint Kits for some practice (and a few more paints), primed those minis up today and they're sitting up on the table waiting for me to start again.

I expect to be ordering some of the Bones that weren't in the Kickstarter soon enough.

Funny - we were on vacation last week in the Bahamas, and I spent a fair amount of time at the beach, with my iPad - reading about painting techniques and watching the Kickstarter go through its (incredible) paces.

I felt a little guilty that I traded away kickstarter Sophie for some dragons and uglies and CTHULHU.

I mean.. Cthulhu is Cthulhu, you just got to have him, but he does seriously lack in the succubust department.

So the next thing I know there's an order for Halloween Sophie in a kitty outfit, with my address on it. Oh no, am I seriously going to start painting/converting again? I have a life to live!

Well the trade hasn't actually been made yet has it? There's still time for second thoughts.

I bought the paint sets 1&3 so I'm going to need to pick up some primer for the metal reaper minis I have laying around. The plan is to get them 100% painted and done before March. Unfortunately I think Reaper is more reliable than I am, so... we'll see how well I achieve my goal.

I have posted the pict of my purple wyrm already in other threads, but yes, I too could not wait. Bought one at my FLGS, and painted it up. The ease in painting it has me very very excited for March. Though my fiancee just shakes his head. He know how many painted and unpainted minis I already have.

We are planning to head to Reaper for Reaper Con this coming Spring. I told my son, to pick a fig to paint. He chose the Hyrda that was the buy in from the Kickstart, but wants as much time as he can have to paint the fig. I guess I am ordering it in metal in the near future.

I had to go to the FLGS anyway, so for the sake of science I bought a gnoll and painted it Sat/Sun. It took all the paints I tried without primer, was high quality in detail and definition, and was really enjoyable to paint. It seems to me that the plastic allows for much easier separation between arms and armor or hair and back or whatever; everything was just easier to paint. Oh and it turned out looking great too. So I'm psyched to finish up my mini backlog of metal minis (I only have maybe a dozen sitting around unfinished so it won't be long) and then perhaps get the orcs and minotaur.

Members, nice work on those Bones - I am excited about the detail in those examples.

I purchased skeletons - I am thrilled with my purchase and incorporated into my Necropolis army. They painted up so well you can't even tell which are metal and which are Bones (unless you bend them :P )

Not sure if you guys have noticed it - but this seems to have had a good impact on Reaper's Online store already. I seem to recall a different selection in the top ten bestselling miniatures slots a couple weeks ago:

Now it is Bones as far as they go. Anyone from Reaper care to comment, just for giggles. How many Bones figures have you guys sold direct in the last month?

Halloween Sophie? As in a newer one? Did I miss something?

Been trying to find that Minotaur that I bought to carefully look at the details, but apparently it got lost in the maze that is Life. On Sunday, I was at a board and card game meet in a gaming store a few cities south of here. While there, my friends had to keep dragging me away from the minis knowing that I had pledged into mulitple KS drives involving miniatures. I was only going to rebuy that Minotaur... and maybe pick up some kobolds... and perhaps some dwarves... and a familar set... Er, maybe it was for the best they restrained me. Maybe it's a kindness since I did got one of my buddies a Vampire Level plus $58 in extras (that he otherwise would have missed out on). Damn, I am a good friend.

I'm assuming you went there with your wife so that's either a testament to your constitution to withstand the wrath from ignoring her while on vacation or a good indicator of the strength of your marriage. Either way, glad to see you on the forums to tell us about it. ^^

I bought in at Vampire level with $200 extra for extra options, even though I'd never painted even one single mini in my life. I was nervous about what I'd done, fearing I'd be stuck with a ton of unpainted minis sitting in a box, like the twenty or so unpainted metal ones I've had in a box for close to twenty years. But this time I decided to try. So I went to my local game store and bought two of the Reaper Learn to Paint kits. I painted the first two sample minis from the first Learn to Paint kit and a couple of other simple metal minis from my old box of unpainted metal minis this weekend, and was pleased with how they turned out, especially considering it was my first attempt. So now I'm excited to try paining a plastic mini. I think I'll order a current Bones sculpt to try painting it. I'm really pleased by this Kickstarter. Not only do I think it's a great deal, but it also finally got me to try painting minis, and I like it!

My issue was that I went 4 bills deep into Bones, and then spent more than twice that again on paints, tools and supplies from other online hobby sources. The parcels are arriving with such volume and speed iat my workplace that it feels like a forward painting Command Post in my office.( And we'll leave out the airbrush for the nonce) . My secretary is laughing now as she brings in new boxes.

It has been over a dozen years since I have done any painting and while Isupposedly have 800 unpainted metals; however, , they are at a friend's place and it is uncertain if I will be able to get them back -- or when.

So here I am with a crap load of paint, tools and tons of other cool accessories, and nothing to.paint right at hand, except a couple of Pathfinder metals I got as promos through Paizo at Gencon.

So I did what any reasonable gamer would do who is expecting over 500 Reaper Bones 7 months from now and is finding it hard to justify buying more minis. I turned first locally to Craigslist and saw what was available. Turns out, a fair bit, actually. i picked up about $240 worth of primed (but unpainted) GW Wood Elves for $60 -- including a GW plastic+foam hard shell army case for them. The GW stuff , being Elven, is not over the top in terms of sculpt and proportions, either. So I now have 80 minis to paint. I figure that will be more than fine for the time being and if I can't get my metals back and I "need" more before March -- then I'll just get more. ("need" being a highly mutable and subjective term:)),

I do really want to thank Reaper for giving me the painting bug again. Seeing as I was awfully negative about the Kickstarter when it first started, my conversion on the road was about as deep and thorough as one can get.
