OK - Hands up those who couldn't wait

Ok, so I'm not a little addicted to the Bones minis. I've now bought a minotaur (finished painting), a dwarf (my step-daughter painted him and I based him), and a gnoll (finished painting, or at least adding my layers of black wash now). I've also got a cave troll that my other step-daughter is painting. She chose to dip him, so he's taking a day or so to cure, but he's done now as well. Now I have to (yes, HAVE TO) buy more. I want a ghost, a bugbear, another troll and more gnolls! Never bought a mini before and now the bones have me like a drug.

I look at the Bones and other Reaper minis everytime I go into my LGS... I pick at least one up to look at it VERY carefully and ask myself, "Self, do you want to paint this now?" Then I remember the 24 Battletech minis and tons of paint waiting to be painted. And the house we just closed on that needs the entire inside painted... And I tell myself, "Self, when the house is ready and your Mancave is ready, you can paint the minis."

I'm now one mini into my newfound mini painting career. I started with the first of the three Bones Skeleton Warrriors and it turned out great! I balme the amazing video tutorial support on YouTube, specifically GirlPainting (check her out!). Base coating, black wash, and a careful series of dry brushing and et voila! I have a new Skelly friend for my Pathfinder table!

I'm ramping up to be able to paint the figures from Corvus Belli's spectacular mini game, Infinity. They are a bit higher up on the detail scale and I want to be able to do a great job. Check out www.infinitythegame.com for the spectacular models.

I was so excited by this Kickstarter that I not only went out and bought the Reaper Learn to Paint Kits 1 through 4, and some Reaper Bones, but also ordered both Reaper HD paint sets, and a bunch of Master Series paints not included in the Learn to Paint Kits or in the Kickstarter paint sets. Now I'll probably end up buying a bunch of Reaper metal miniatures sooner or later, since the miniature painting-learning process is coming along satisfactorily. And other hobby and miniature companies are making a bunch of money from me as a result of the Kickstarter too. I've bought brushes, unpainted accessories from Armorcast and Grendel, basing accessories like ballast and miniature vegetation for the miniatures, and most recently ordered some Greenstuff and sculpting tools to see if I try my hand at some minor modifications at some point.

My wife and I made a trip to the only FLGS in town during the Kickstarter to check out the Bones line, but alas, all they had was metal.

I recently placed an order through MiniatureMarket for LNoE's Timber Peak and added some Bones to the order. Unfortunately the werewolf and wraith are out of stock.

I like the way you take up a new hobby. :bday:

I'm jealous of the way you pick up a new hobby.... ;)

I just broke down and bought a couple pieces of Bones. The Bug Bear and Garrik the Bold (Human Male Warrior). I really just wanted to see what I've gotten myself into with this Kickstarter. Well, that and to get a little practice painting in before march.

Oh my gosh I've missed this. I'm painting minis again for the first time in 20 years and I love it. I couldn't possibly wait until March. (Although I sure am looking forward to it.)

I've been getting useful hardware (as a kid I never spoke to another minis painter and I know next to nothing about techniques), and poring over brilliant (but at the moment way beyond my skills) articles like this one.

I ended up ordering Warlord Savage North book from Reaper directly.

I ended up ordering Warlord 2nd Edition book and Two of the old Warlord starter army packs(Reptus and Nefsokar) from an online store I found that still had them even tho they're nolonger in production.

Very excited for them to arrive and get started playing and Painting them up.

Yes, I did go all in right away. I was nervous when I pledged to the Kickstarter without having ever painted a mini in my life. But before the Kickstarter closed I bought the first Learn to Paint kit and found it fun to paint the man at arms and giant rat minis that come with it, and they turned out better that most of my mass produced prepainted minis, or at least at a comparable quality. So I figured I was in! Painting the two minis in the Learn to Paint kit no. 3 with non-metallic metals was a challenge, I must admit, but they turned out passable, at least for practice. And now I've started to paint some of old unpainted metal minis I bought almost two decades ago when I was just getting into D&D, but which sat unused ever since prepainted minis appeared on the market. I've already painted the Ral Party Dark Sun half giantess, and a couple of adventurer types.

Now I've started painting my first terrain accessories, starting with some simple "wood" chairs and benches, and I'm working on Mega Miniatures' wizard's shelves and potion racks, barbarian throne and a couple of other pieces. Some of the pieces have been a pain due to small hard to reach objects, but the challenge has been fun and I'm pleased how they are turning out.

Afterwards I'll paint some of the Mega Miniature NPC types like their king's court NPCs and townfolk, for further practice, and the Grendel terrain pieces, as well as a couple of Reaper Bones figures.

So by the time March comes around, I hope I can do a decent job on the Kickstarter Bones!

My ridiculously large order of paints comes in today (went through the reaper catalog and chose most of the colors I liked, plus 2 HD sets). I've been constantly checking the fed ex tracker for the last week. Bugbear and Knoll minis from the FLGS are getting some action tonight!

If you're a n00b and want some practice, look on eBay for Battle Masters sets. With postage, you'll get 100+ low-detail plastic GW miniatures for about $30. If you wanted mounted units from the Reaper KS, you can get them with Battle Masters!
